Ladies and gents... This is not a thread for one party or the other, this is a thread to encourage you to PARTICIPATE. As the day of the election draws near and we are asked to do one small thing to help decide the path of the next 4 years or more I strongly urge you to put the iToys down, turn off the PS3's and xbox360's, log off the Internet and head to your local voting booths if you are of age. Many good men and women have died to give us the privileges we all take for granted from time to time, keep them in your thoughts and make sure their efforts and sacrifices have not been in vain. Regardless of who wins or loses these are proud days for us when we are able to safely and proudly participate in the selection of our own leaders. I wish the best of luck to both sides and hope to see a fair and safe election next week, but please.... GO VOTE, if you don't vote now you forfeit the right to bitch about the government later (or so my grandpa taught me when I turned 18). Happy Friday, carry on. ๐

Well said! ๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธ

My English Teacher taught me(this is te message in my own words)
If you dont vote for president, then you have no right to complain about it, whether it is fair or not, you didnt use your right, so why should they give you any? -
Rite on! It is owr duty to vote! ๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธ

The problem with this logic Alexei is that thousands of people use this same weak excuse. It all adds up, every vote does count whether you accept it or not.๐บ๐ธ Well said indeed ๐บ๐ธ
But, I don't see how my ONE vote would change the course of American history the next 4 - 8 years
After two recounts, it passed by NINE votes. I'm also sure there was people who didn't want it to pass that never came out.
It adds up. Some countries, people are dying for the the right that we take for granted.

Don't take a stance on something unless you have looked at both sides points. Each candidate has their own ideas and is entitled to them. I encourage voters to look in depth and understand what each president proposes instead of going to the voting booth and blindly voting, if you go at all.
-
Bravo, Viper! And as a reminder, you may cast a ballot without voting in each race or ballot measure. Some states have a "none of the above" option - most do not. Casting a blank ballot is a far more powerful message than failing to show up. The essence of Viper's post for me is the act of casting a ballot, regardless if you cast it blank, straight ticket, or only selected issues/candidates, is the act of civic responsibility owed by us all to each other and those who fought for our right to do so.

Don't forget. If your like me and do not like either one, you can still write in who you feel is the right person for the job. People will tell you it is a wasted vote, do not believe this. And you will still maintain the right to say, I knew it, I knew this guy wouldn't follow through!
Viper thanks for being a stand up Citizen!

Thank you for those that do vote one way or the other!

Remember, there are other parties aside from democrat and republican. Definitely not nearly as popular or well known, but they're there. The ones more important to look at are your senators and state representatives. These are the members of congress that run the country more than the presidential figurehead.

"if you don't vote now you forfeit the right to bitch about the government later"
True dat, Viper! I voted early.. Easy-peezy!

How about you think about it like this. Obviously no national election is won by one vote... But--you also vote for local offices, Viper is right that there are million people who add up to not vote, but when you vote for your local officials, they CAN win by only a couple votes. It happens all the time. Those are the wins who 20 years down the road work up to higher offices and the lucky ones--President's office. Think about it, if you hadn't had voted for the guy 20 years ago he would never have ran for President. EVERY vote matters greatly with the delegates technically deciding your vote, depending on what district, county, and state you're in--your one single vote counts as many as 6,000 votes... Think about that.
To all those who think that your vote "doesn't count" DON't Believe it! It just isn't true!!
See ya at tha polls! -

well said viper.
alexei your a bit young but every vote counts. florida in 2000 was very close for bush few hundred votes there made him president. just voting sets an example for others to follow. plus if you like canidate 1 and canidate 2 wins you might regret it. -
๐บ๐ธJust Vote๐บ๐ธ Be responsible my fellow Americans! Please do your homework and know who your voting for. Aloha

Amen! Vote! But be an educated voter. Otherwise you're just cutting off your nose to spite your face. One could argue what's worse? Someone that doesn't use their vote or someone that votes and doesn't know what they are voting for. So educate yourself, care about Thr process that so few people in the world get to participate in and vote!
-
Viper is right, people here in america is so lucky that they have their own choice and the safety to vote, back home in my own country you need to vote and a gun is pointing at your face or they'll give you money to vote for them cheaters! election is so bad, violent is always, there is always killing. Corrupt government coz voters are uneducated so educate yourself be aware of what is going on or later you gonna complain damn! I should'nt vote for him he's Evil LoL! ๐

Vote! But do more research than watching the news, they often lie(every single one of them lies and none are fair no matter what they say) to promote ideas that they like.

I'm too young to vote... Although I wish I could. This election is stressful on my parents because if a certain person is elected (not saying names), then they will most likely lose there jobs.
Also, Election Day in PA is on the same day of my sisters 18th birthday ๐ so her birthday gift is the right to vote basically.

Great thread Viper...& not to disrespect or offend anyone, but IMO! It's kinda misleading! No one ever fulfills what they claim to be able to do! That's why it's a revolving door, & we will be right back here in another 4yrs debating who's gonna fail again this time! History has proven time & time again, humans are not capable of ruling & successfully guiding humans! At some point greed & selfishness will lead to the downfall of any supposed great president that comes along! That being said it is a blessing to have the opportunity to try & try again to find the one fit to lead our great country! So please do Vote or don't! One thing is for sure either way, the opportunity will arise again! That is until the already chosen perfect one comes to rescue us all from ourselves!!
