You were a child. Forgive me for disagreeing, but I deal with the transient population every day. They are almost all severely mentally ill, addicted to drugs and/or alcohol, or (usually) 😔✂ 😔Your personal experience differs bc it sounds like you guys were in transition and I'm sure you were well aware of the locations of shelters and food.🌾ᏦᎻᎪᏞ🌾 wrote:

The federal and state govt slashing of funding for mental institutions has left us as a society with nowhere to put large populations of mentally ill. So they now wander the streets, self medicate with booze and drugs, and we as a society are ok with that. It's sad, it's cruel, but it's true.
Knights right, go talk to this guy. Youll see for yourself.

Not from me but one of my best mates. He had a homeless bloke ask him for $1. And because we come from not so wealthy back grounds he knew what it was like to be without. So he asked if the man was hungry, the man said yes so he went and bought him a can of coke and a meat pie. Gave him the dollar and a cigarette! I've never seen someone so great full for so little. Made me feel like a weak human for not having done it before.

He's gone. He packed up his makeshift fort and left. The police said he had over thirty charges going back to the nineties. Ranging from child endangerment to substance abuse. I'm glad he's gone.

Dude if you give him money he's buying cheap booze or drugs. If you give him a meal he will sell it for money to buy cheap booze or drugs. If you want him to leave, tell him to leave and then call the police. That simple.
With that attitude, you probably SHOULDN'T be dealing with the homless every day. You ever think maybe a muthafucka is just plain ol' hungry? You do know drug addicts and the mentally ill eat food also, right? And that, despite their problems, they're human beings, too who need basic sustenance?
