Make sure you charge every device you have(phones, iPods, etc), download the flashlight app(or be old fashioned and use a real one), and do stuff like laundry and shower before the power goes out. Add more advice if u can think of anything

Get the hell out of there might be a good piece of advice.

In the anticipation of Hurricane Sandy, I was at Walmart and saw someone buy plug in candles and said "for when the power goes out" and I did nothing to stop her.

...Get out of the way...?...Buy a life-raft?....Emergency food and water?....My blankie...
-
Buy bread and get in the bath tub😺

It's not so bad! Some wind and flooding in Connecticut. But it didn't hit here straight on.
Everyone stay safe!!

I live in central jersey and its unbelievable right now. It should at its worst in an hour or two. The eye is right over Washington D.C.
-
Here in DC. It's pretty windy and down pouring but we are hanging in there. I hope for everyone else being affected they stay safe. Checking in with my family and friends every so often so far so good. Bring it sandy I'm ready!
-
You want to fill every container you have full of clean water. if the power goes off for three days you have no water. And any flood waters will be contaminated. Nice to have a good filter as well.
-
Get gas filled up, buy canned food and bottled water. Keep a battery radio, might be a good idea to board up windows and keep flying projectiles inside the house, and remember power company's dont come out and fix things until the hurricane is gone, keep in touch with close family members. And stay indoors at all times, even if ur over the eye of the hurricane.

Your seat cushion may be used as a floatation device.

And goodbye power

It's a little late for alot of stuff. If you can download the red cross app.Incase you need to locate a redcross shelter.stay put, stay in the lower part of your house basement if possible.Stay away from windows(flying debris might hit you). After the storm stay inside if possible ,rescue crews will be busy as is. If all else fails ,reduce your turf to 85 and drop all weapons.

Don't focus on all the bad things going on around you, that will make you feel worse an panic. Stay calm and make good decisions.
-
If you use a generator, don't run it in the house or even in the garage. Amazing how many people died in Florida after hurricane Charlie due to carbon monoxide poisoning from this...and THEN the news starts finally warning people of these dangers.

Just watching the news here in the UK. Watching the flooding down at Battery Park. 😳 Images of an empty Times Square.
I seriously hope you are all safe.

buy a canoe and float around times square
-
Half of the city has now lost power
-
I live in pa and I saw a plastic bag float through the wind that's all
-
Since when is a flashlight "old fashioned"? Lol
-
If you lose power rule of thumb for perishables (milk meats) in the fridge go bad in about 12 hours. In the freezer you have about 24 hours. These are guides there is some play room with times depending on circumstances.

Come to Florida where hurricanes are an excuse to have a party. Stop whining about sandy. Plus people affected by sandy were told to evacuate and if you don't then you must not of heard about hurricane Katrina's meal of New Orleans. Nom nom nom

Mine was truth. Katrina victims were told to evacuate and provided transportation. They didn't listen and now they are swimming with the fishes. They even went as low as shooting at those attempting to rescue them. Potential sandy victims were offered transport to evacuate and the mayor denied them. And sandy is merely a category one. The ones I feel for enduring sandy are the soldiers standing watch at the tomb of the unknown soldier.✯iCon✯ wrote:
