Why is it little kids can vomit what appears to be 4 or 5 times the volume their stomach can hold?

Please explain.

My oldest is 17, the sick one is 4. This is just an unanswered question I have had for years.

When any child under 10 can learn to hit the toilet, bucket, bag, or any other designated "sick" container; we will all have our answer.
