Hi guys just wanted to know if any of you guys were in the coast guard, I am interested but I am at a tie between navy and coast guard. I would like to hear some story's if you guys got some, and any info on jobs for navy or coast guard. Thanks guys😊

My father is 24 years in the coast guard, a W4. anything your wondering in particular? Ill ask him for ya, he loves to talk and he's done almost everything at one time or another.

Sure, how long are you gone for coast guard. What are some requirements to join?

Like all the other military branches, there are tests to take before entering, both physical and mental, to prove your both a rock and at the same time, not a rock. Coastguard standards for intelligence entry are slightly higher than the navy, but the physical tests are roughly equal.
The length of time your out and about depends on your job, but a rough estimate of sea time is a few weeks up to 6 months, round the world. That's along the coasts, of course. When your on a ship in the Great Lakes, can be a day or two search and rescue to a few months aboard an IceBreaker.

The Navy lovingly refers to the Coast Guard as "Puddle Pirates".

I wish I would have joined the coastguard when I was younger. All the military perks, get to live in places you would actually want to live. Many people get to come home most every night. Quality of life is better than any other branch based on what I have heard from people who have been there. Tougher to get into, but if you want it bad enough you will get in.

Where do you live? The coastguard in the uk is almost all volunteers and they do a fantastic job at saving lives off the British coast.

Im going to marines
Awesome!!! I am in a ROTC program at school so when I join the military I will start off at a higher rank then most everyone else, that will come in handy😊
