My house got robbed today... I'm so pissed, the cops didn't do shit either. If anyone has ever had this happen how did you find the person or deal with the situation ?
-
It happened while I was at school, 1 and 1/2 years ago, my mom chased the robber and was able to identify the thief and he is in jail currently

See your lucky, I actually went to school today, if I would've stayed home and seen the person lets just say I'd be in jail.. I just wonder if it was someone I knew that did it and that's what frustrates meIt happened while I was at school, 1 and 1/2 years ago, my mom chased the robber and was able to identify the thief and he is in jail currently

Invest in a security system. What did they get?
-
That's what I told my dad but he thinks its a waste that the person would take that as well, and they took all my moms jewlrey, our Mac laptops(4) and t.v.'s(2).... But also left my ps3? And my sister's expensive camera..

I'd be checking Craigslist, eBay, pawnshops, etc. the ifs are quite dumb that's why they have crappy jobs or no job.
-
Time to buy a Doberman...🐺

That sucks, and no neighbors were around? Anyone notice people carrying out T.V.s? Kinda suspicious, but like you said nobody knows if you know them or not

Yes look for something close to you. They will probably wait a week or so before they do to make sure that they don't look suspicious.I'd be checking Craigslist, eBay, pawnshops, etc. the ifs are quite dumb that's why they have crappy jobs or no job.

I got robbed last year. I just replaced all the stuff stolen (insurance) you just have to trust that if something shows up the cops will let you know. And funny enough earlier today some one tried to sell my old IPod at a pawn shop.
HOPE YOU LIKE PRISON FOOD, AND PENIS! -
When I still lived in South Africa 4 guys walked into my house tied my lil sister and the maid up wile they cleaned everything out they had left just befor I got home! Lucky because I would have probly done something stupid and got me or my sister hurt.... It sux because there is pretty much nothing the cops can do about it
-
Never been robbed. Must suck. Got a pitbull and a lot of guns. But would never want to go through that! Sorry man!
-
Check the pawn shops that stuff is easily pawnable quick easy money also ask other neighbors if other houses have been robbed too

My friend got robbed two years ago.
Lost his Xbox, two TV's (one of them a 72in!) his computer and about 100$
It turned out half of the building was robbed (it had to be a group of guys) Espically if they carried a 72inch TV down two floors.
The cops found the Xbox without the original HD, and it was missing 6 games. Nothing else was found. -

Fill your house with marbles and tarantulas like from Home Alone

I've had my house robbed several times. It sucks, man. You feel so violated. The first few times were in north Oakland when I was a kid. We were broke and didn't have anything to steal, but still. Those were probably junkies breaking in. The last time was in SF, and they got me good. I didn't even wanna report it, knowing how bad SFPD is, but they got guns off me so I had to. That time I'm sure it was someone I knew or was affiliated with. I know how you feel. Did the popo at least dust for fingerprints?

Sorry to hear bro! Theres not much you can do but id find out if there have been other break ins, in the area recently. If not then it could possibly be an inside job, make a list of ppl who know where you live and pissed you off or visa versa, maybe u capped to many of there turf lol (sorry couldnt resist) but seriously there are too many lowlifes in this world...
-
check local bars and pubs too, particulary seedier ones on friday/saturday nights. were your possessions marked in any way? eg uv pen, name scratched in, sticker? if so, pawn shops will find them easier to identify.
we were robbed a couple of years back, they went in through the kitchen window, climbing on the guinea-pig hutch to get in. one guinea-pig broke its leg when the hutch tipped and fell. they stole virtually all our stuff, and targetted us on a night we were always all out.
this proved to be their downfall as my big bro and i had seen 3 guys watching the house for a few weeks previously, and were able to identify them. they were responsible for a spate pf robberies in my area, and got 1yr community service with a 6mth prison sentence which only one of them served. -
Sorry about the robbery fella it's never nice to come home to something like that. I was burgled a few years ago and the policeman attending actually gave us names of the local family known for it,they lived on the next road. It was sorted shortly after without the use of police. (not recommended though).

I've never had my house burglarized, but I had a similar loss. I moved to a new town and had most of my stuff in a storage unit while I got settled. The unit was broken into, and they stole nearly everything to value - guns, electronics, collectibles. Like a dumbass, I had been putting off getting renters insurance, and was heading down to finally do that the day I noticed the unit had been burglarized, so I had no coverage yet. Probably lost around $15000. Live and learn, I suppose.
-
Upgrade security though seriously. Any visible deterrent will put them off, they look for the easiest property so any signs of things like alarms will lessen the appeal of a quick in out👍
-
You guys assume everyone's family can 1) afford a burglar system, and 2) own their home and can have one installed, and 3) live in a house rather than an apartment.
Homey, call SJPD, ask to speak to the burglary department, and demand someone come and dust for prints. Also, call local pawn shops and tell them to look out for laptops. And last, check Craigslist for your shit. None of this guarantees you anything, but it's all you can do. SJPD is shady as hell for not dusting right then and there. (SFPD never got any of my guns back, and it's been years. I know damn well my guns are probably in some evidence locker by now.)

I have 2 pitbulls who would love to attack anything attempting to get into my house. They are my protection while I am away 🐶

Very believable and likely! Thanks for sharing!A guy I know was at home, when he heard a noise at his back door. He went to look, and saw someone had broken a window in the door, and was grubbing around trying to open it. So quick smart, he grabbed up a machete, and chopped off the arm! He picked it up, and threw it out of the hole. The now armless robber, picked it up, and ran off. True story.

Yeah, I agree it sounds unlikely. But the guy is from Sierra Leone, and is a bit, erm, dodgy. He also claims to have lost a container of 'tomatoes' he was 'importing' when the ship was sank off the coast of Sierra Leone.[Add:Baz]Boffer wrote:

Lol I hate it when that happens to my tomato containers. Actually the fact the he's from Sierra Leone lends a certain amount of authenticity to his story - its a bit of a societal jungal there. I remember seeing a documentary in college about sociologists trying to teach residents of small villages to physically fight when they had disagreements because a large number of them were simply murdering each other in their sleep. Sounds like a nice place to visit.🌾ᏦᎻᎪᏞ🌾 wrote:
