I like the argument of "you're hypocritical because you are wasting time eloquently asserting a problem instead of sucking it up and accepting the inefficient use of your time". It's about on par with "quit bitching, noob". And that's basically the only two arguments laid out by the defenders of automechguru. Meanwhile, Maddhatter lays out a well thought-out and clear argument that is about as effective as pissing into the wind. Thats disappointing.
Your absolutely right, it's a lose , loose situation.

I beginning to think that MadHatter and KHAL are trolling.

Invalid codes piss me off, inactive codes, why waste the time even checking lol

You argued saying that because it's within the rules it's acceptable and we should move on. That's like saying capping inactives is accepted and people protecting them should move on. There are the rules and the socialably acceptable, not always the same thing.🎩 MaddHatter 🎩 wrote:

My question to you dear sir " would you rather punch those inactives or the new temps "
Now what's a waste of time ? -

Sorry, I didn't phrase this as a question. Automech, how long does it take you to hand punch 1 prefix & all the numbers 000-999?I'm curious how much time to spent punching in the prefix & then the numbers 000-999, then adding the valid ones to ICM.
I can't even imagine the amount of time it would take doing that to try & beat Atla's 10k+.

No, a completely irellevent point. This is about ICM not turf wars. ICM doesn't allow the community to decide on rules like in turf wars. Now stop picking and choosing whatto answer, what about us who want to punch the codes.

I did answer it read the thread. There is no perfect answer to your question but I addressed it. ICM is tied into turf wars. So it's relevant. No, a completely irellevent point. I've said all I wanted to say and than some. I get most of everyone's argument, not everyones though. Hope everyone was able to make sense of my somewhat gibberish lol ;)
I don't want to delete the thread because I think it was needed but It can die and drift off into the murky second+ pages now because it is just going to continue in a loop of arguing now. I won't be commenting again unless I see something that absolutely needs a response.

You never adressed my question, what about us who want the codes. You are telling him not to post them, but I want them. Who's being selfish now? Not much of an arguement if you can't adress a simple question and keep relating this to somethig I never bothered to address. Now will you answer it?

You may not have addressed it yourself but your original comment was voided by the tie in with ICM. Sorry but you know it's true regardless as to if you wanna believe it or not. And I have addressed your question. It goes like this. I understand for the players who have punched all of ICM and want the codes but the majority of punchers don't have time for lots of punching. And that ties in with the fact that more and more people are gonna be posting old codes because it's easy. Thus wasting what little time most players have. All that being my main concern. In any case good day to you each and everyone of you. Thanks for the opinions. You never adressed my question, what about us who want the codes. You are telling him not to post them, but I want them. What a silly complaint! The codes are valid. If you don't want to punch them then skip over them.Who else logs on to ICM to punch codes and get annoyed seeing a long list of the starting codes using the same word diff number?
I'll punch any code I can find, even if it appears to belong to an inactive player. I'll take the chance that they might login again one of these days and accept my invite.
Your right atla, no wonder you have so much mob. It's messed up they singled this player out. All codes i saw that he posted were valid. Instead of calling this guy out,we should be thanking him. Also thanks to atla for all those codes posted both active and inactive. -

Meh i dont care. Either way, i cant just leave them codes unchecked, and i couldnt cheat myself and check em regardless without punching. I have around 10k codes left on icm, punching codes from back in 2010. These codes will have the same accepts as these ones being put up now. So i take any codes happily, cause when i finish icm ill be stumped(well after i done the new ones)

👍👍👍I agree with Smokey. This is simply how ICM works. It is not ideal, but its the best system with the tools that ICM likely has, as I doubt TW gives out information on the activity of players and their respective codes. Should players like Atla have to confirm the status of players, it would be a huge pain, and likely result in less valid/active codes getting posted, so thanks code posters.

A little follow up: I just did a brief test on ICM. I went and punched 20 codes that had been posted using the same prefix. (There were 4 different prefixes.) These codes were posted on October 20th on ICM. Of the 20 I punched, only 1 was in my mob. The rest were all, "You have already invited this player." (The invites were less than 60 days old so they weren't deleted.)
Obviously my sample size is small, but I wasn't going to spend a ton of time re-punching a lot of codes. It was enough (in my mind) to confirm my suspicions that they belong to inactive players. Will I still punch any new ones like this that show up? Yes. Will I be happy about what I believe is mostly a waste of time? No.
I'm not posting this to attack any particular player. I just thought I'd share my results without posting a new thread. My recommendation is that if this occurs again (at least in such an obvious manner), those with little time to punch should just skip them.
-
👆Agreed and I noticed the same
-
I always thought I was the only one who knew this was happening. I started not adding codes posted by certain users and was still keeping up with everyone else. Will the other guys grow a couple hundred on me over a month? Yes. Do I save HOURS punching codes? Yes.
-
Thanks to those that followed up. I'll be skipping those codes from now on.
-
I'm still pissed they purge my invites! Lol
