Back Surgery
Forums › General Discussion › Back Surgery-
What was supposed to be a 45min procedure turned into a 3.5 hour surgery. Finally home and drugged up and bored. Hence the post. Had a L3-4 and L5-S1 Microdiscectomy. Hopefully this gets me back on the rinks in a few weeks. Anyone ever have this before?

That is what happens when you have bad posture, you'll make it through it

Thanks Tiger. More like too much hockey (not that there is such a thing)

Daaaamn man, that sounds pretty horrific. Get well soon brother

My best friend got a major back surgery over the summer break.
They straighten out his spine.
Took about 4 months to recover (I was carrying his stuff during the first few weeks of school)
He doing fine now and grew 2 inches taller after the surgery. Lol -
Mine was pinched nerves.... My nickname became Quasi at work since I couldn't walk upright. Lol. Pain in my leg is gone but the hospital drugs wore off. I'm way too old for this 😁😁

I have a c5-6, 6-7 fusion. it wasn't microsurgery though. Full fusion with titanium & cadaver bone. Put me off duty for 3 months. I got hurt on a fire just after I turned 30. Getting older sucks, but it's better than your other option.

Thanks all. Appreciate the feedback. Yea it's a sucky thing to endure but hopefully a little time will heal it for all that have gone through this. For now - its all about the Percocet!

Sounds pretty complex. 😳
🍻 here's to a speedy recovery. 👍

Well i once broke my finger on a Yoga BallMy graandma broke her neck had a screw put in, which was a failed surgery, and then put her in physical therapy which broke it even more so she had a second surgery where a plate was put in and she still can't swallow anything after 2 half months so another surgery may be needed. She said it was the worst felling ever when in therapy and 2012 was the worst year of her life. Hope everything goes well with you and her.

I've had 2 micro diseconomies of my L5/S1, too much football, had nothing to do with posture...one on each side of the disc, a year apart!! I'm doing cool now, that I've managed my weight, & have abs of steel...& I learned to deal wit the constant discomfort! But the second one forced me too retire way to early!! You should be fine, but don't rush it! Listen too ur body, b4 u go back full go! I wish I had...

Hahaha my nickname was the same back in HS. My T11, T12 and L1 (I think those are right haha) are fused together on the inside. As I grew the outside spread apart but the inside stayed the same. I have a hunch. Daily pinched nerves and numbness. Any wrong twist and I could paralyse(sp) myself. Can't get surgery 😔 to risky. I would grow a few inches if I could get surgery haha. But for now it's 24/7 back pain ughMine was pinched nerves.... My nickname became Quasi at work since I couldn't walk upright. Lol. Pain in my leg is gone but the hospital drugs wore off. I'm way too old for this 😁😁

They said if they caught it earlier they would have done surgery. But now they won't do anything unless I'm in too much pain. My body is immune to MANY pain meds. Over the counter and prescribed. Tho my back has given me a high pain tolerance lol. Tho I still get tho odd pinched nerve that drops me to my knees, or wakes me up at night. So much fun 😒Kevster - I can completely empathize. I wish u the best!

I slipped my disc at work which took about 12 months to heal so not as bad as yours but I can totally relate to being in crippling pain due to a back injury. I hope it works out for you buddy, all the best👍
