Better graphics?

Does not mean it's a better game. Anyone disagree?

I grew up playing N64 and a lot of those games were a lot better in my opinion.
-
Not always but it definitely helps.

Don't take away from the gameplay and I am ok with it. Otherwise leave them good but not great and let me be able to play.

I always used to think graphical advances were the be all and end all.... To a small degree I still think it can play its part. However, GTA IV came out... Looked amazing, sucked the fun out of the franchise for me. Long live Vice City. ✌

I still play vice city & love it -
graphics do NOT necessarily mean a better experience IMO. I dare someone to find a game that encompasses strategy like some of the original games did, and I'm not talkig how to clean out the sniper in the steeple. Older games made you think more, put effort into what you did and why you did it. Strategy simulators allowed you to refight wars at levels we just don't see anymore, games like Harpoon were amazing, now you get to crouch and snipe.... boring.

Nope, only adds a not needed element of the game.
All gameplay and story in my opinion.

Today's games are like everything else these days - shiny but shallow.

I think if you look at the gameplay of gta San Andreas which was second to none then compare it to gta4 which IMO wasn't half as good although the graphics was better

I used to play Paper Mario which was awesome and the 2nd one was good. The third one sucked they added weird stuff.

Minecraft is my favorite game but if it had realistic graphics it would suck. However good graphics may help with some games.
-
I played the 2600 and commador also but my favorite game was romance of the three kindoms which had no graphics really.

It doesn't make a better game. But if a modern game has bad graphics, it means they were lazy to put in good graphics, or maybe they didn't have the money and it generally means everything else is bad because graphics is the first thing a person notices in a game.
