That's a load of rubbish mate. It's mostly tax! The price of oil isn't near the highs they used to be when we weren't in a recession. It's all cause of the probs in the Middle East that's why prices are so hiiiiiiiigh

What from the black market? Cause desel here is atlest $2 litre and 3 litres make up a gallon so ur prob buying ur diseal from a unlisenced dealer or its second hand fuel cause it can't be that cheap.diesel, which i use.
approx. $1 USD per gallon.
its actually $1.50 TTD for a litre here. (trinidad & tobago), we produce it, and we get government subsidies on it, gasoline is actually more expensive cause they give less subsides, its also set at that rate, it doesn't fluctuate with the market.
3rd world, it sucks, but gas is cheap and the beach is awesome

Truth is, there are vast reserves of oil out there. Getting it is where the problem will eventually lie, because of the countries who control the reserves. Think what you will about middle eastern issues and the western involvement. We can only speculate.
Another truth is that we in the west are governed by corporate slags, who have crippled our economies. Our leaders have little choice but to roll that effect downhill, to the only place they can reimburse their blunders. Tax.
Because of the way we've been brainwashed, taxing fuel tends to slip under the radar these days. A couple of years ago in the uk, farmers, truckers, taxi drivers held massive rolling protests on the roads, that was when prices were hittin just £1 per litre. How did it get so high now without people rising up? Because we're told that it's the Arabs fault, and we believe it. Tax tax tax.

Actually not 2 dollars, sorry, around 1,50. Still very expensive. And yes, we export it, but then we have to import it again, and the cartel is very strong in brasil ;(B. Rabbit wrote:

This is what my dad says: There are tons of oil up in Alaska but the U.S. doesn't want to take it so we import from the Middle East, which has the constant threat of being stopped. I heard this was false. There is an Oil cartel that controls prices. Drilling in alaska sounds tempting to many Americans, but imo I would rather use there oil up first. If prices go way up the U.S might start drilling. Inflation also plays a huge part in the price. Can't wait until hyper inflation.😂Worlds running low on gas that mainly why it's so expensive

1990- Gas is $0.90! This is an outrage!

Cheapest I've seen in my area is $4.69. The reason why it's more expensive in California too is because there are more environmental laws. The gasoline has to be treated to release less pollutants and that's why they charge us a bit more per gallon.
