Mosque at Ground Zero?
Forums › General Discussion › Mosque at Ground Zero?-
What are everyones thoughts on this? I personally think there shouldnt be any religous buldings. Just a big memorial to the ones we lost on that tragic day.

Same feelings I damn sure don't want a mosque there though
-
I personally don't like it, but it's legal.

It's near ground zero not at it. Also from what I hear it's a Muslim rec center sort of like the YMCA.
I gave up on politics a long time ago though so don't quote me on that. It's just what I've heard. I feel like this country was founded on freedom of religion and we should keep it that way.
The jackasses that flew planes into our buildings were just that........ jackasses. If we went and persecuted the majority of people for what just a few jackasses have done then were gonna be screwed.
Now of they want to put up a terrorist training camp in NYC I say bring in the drones😳

I'm a Protestant Christian and I think they can build it. Freedom of religion. And the extremists kill more muslims than Americans. Build up a new commercial building at the actual sight too. We ought to move on. Remember the dead but not suffer for their memory. And the terrorists want this, for us to keep remembering and sobbing

The thing is 2 blocks away, it ain't even "at" ground zero. There are already mosque down there - should they be closed? Finally, read the First Amendment, you don't have to like Islam but religious freedom is at the heart of the republic. This is just politics, nothing else - the rubes in the country get manipulated by this jingoistic bullshit.

Couldn't care less, its going to be almost a mile away and there was a mosque near the twin towers before they were even built. What are everyones thoughts on this? I personally think there shouldnt be any religous buldings. Just a big memorial to the ones we lost on that tragic day.

\\// is right. Calling it a mosque is a misnomer. Even if it was a mosque, they have every right to put ot there. Just as much as any other religious faith.

I saw a quote thatade me laugh the other day regarding this.
"In all fairness we've been building ground zeros next to mosques in The middle east since 2001".
Not that the statement itself is funny, it is a shame that it should ever come to the point that there is a ground zero to discuss. Just thought it hadn't been put that way before lol.

Have you ever seen a catholic church in there countries...

I'm sure they wouldn't do to well over there. You know, without the whole freedom of religion thing. Makes it kind of hard to set up shop.

Well then there you go. I never would have guessed. Were they there prior to the fall of saddam? Just curious.

And just cause many of their countries persecute Christians doesn't mean we should persecute Muslims. Two wrongs doesn't make a right!

I think if the Islamic rulers in the area, thought that it was insensitive to build a mosque so near to ground zero and that it would cause so much upset, that they wouldn't build it. Seems to me, pushing plans forward for it to be built, means they are loving the fact it's being built so near ground zero. Is there a need for it to be built? That there are so few mosques in that area that they need one in that location? That since 9/11 there has been so many Muslims moving to that part of NYC?

Obama has to sign off on this. I really doubt he will. but if he does, he is truly the Antichrist.
-
Let them build it. Why are we Americans suddenly so scared? Let them build it. If it's legit then it's fine and if it's not it's conveniently located for monitoring.
We didnt ban Christian churches when the Christians blew up the Oaklahoma building... There's a Mosque in the Pentagon...
Why? Because American rocks. Banning a mosque in New York is basically saying America is a bunch of scared pussies and I'll have none of it.
Insensative? Don't give me that. Is it insensative to have a gas station on every corner pumping Muslim gas into our cars? Grow up people.
America is better than this shit.
-
Gas station on every corner?? Someones missed the point. There are gas stations/petrol stations on all corners in the world not just America (the worlds round by the way) should only Muslims be able to drive? Pleaaaseee!! If there's a need for a mosque in that PARTICULAR spot, then fine, if there's not, then move on IS the point. No one mentioned banning it.
