There was just a hostage situation in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania! From what I can make out the man was a former army vet with a mental illness and, from what I can make out he used a knife and terrorized I think his ex girlfriend!

The suspect has been arrested. He is being charges with multiple things including terroristic threat and kidnapping. He is going to court soon and will get a mental evaluation.

The suspect was upset with they way things were going in his life.

Happened on the 16th floor of the 3rd gateway building. All floors were evacuated and the elevators shut down.

Many people did not know what was going on, except for those on the 16 floor. A couple workers called 911 and his under their desk.

The man walked into the office claiming he had a gun and bombs and told everyone except the boss to leave.

The roads are now open.

The man did have mental health issues. He is in the veterans court and he also had done a car jacking earlier this summer. The suspects name is Klein Thaxton. He had axis one symptoms which include schizophrenia depression and some other stuff. The suspect also posted on Facebook and I thought some of the posts showed he was clearly depressed.

The suspects mother and workers will be on soon. The suspects mother also helped in negotiations.

The standoff lasted 6 hours. He seemed to have a smile on his face as he was brought to police headquarters. One woman's husband is still in the building because no one can get in or out of the building.
