I don't know. We never saw Ali in his prime (he was banned from boxing for 3 years between the ages 25-28 - the heavyweight's 'prime').

But Tyson had that Joe Frazier swarming style about his fighting which always seemed to give Ali trouble. I'm not sure if his chin would be as durable as Frazier tho.

I would say Ali FTW. A more interesting question would be "who would win in a fight between Ali and Bruce Lee?"

Also, Ali beat Sonny Liston, Frazier, and Foreman... all some of the hardest hitters in boxing history. What makes you think he couldn't of beaten Tyson, too?

Ali vs. Tyson...I think if Ali could keep Tyson at a distance and play the outside, he'd win through pure skill but...if Tyson could get in close enough times, he'd win through raw power. Either way, I don't think it would have been an "easy" fight for either man.

I think a lot of people forget about how good Tyson was in his prime, not to take anything from Ali, but Tyson was scary at his prime. Too bad he couldn't control his temper.

I honestly think Tyson wins this. If Ali tried the "rope-a-dope" on Tyson, he ends up on the map. Nobody in boxing history compares to Tyson's power. In his prime, Tyson was a force. Ali won on style. Ali won on mechanics. Tyson won on pure power. I honestly don't think Ali could take a Tyson uppercut from back in the day. Just my 2 cents.

Ali had problems with shorter fighters such as Frazier. Tyson was a lightning fast version of Frazier. Seems kind of obvious...
