For cell phone towers to give wifi? If not what would you do if they could?

So many more people could play the game and for longer periods of time when they have time, many times they have time but not the location to get wifi if they have an iPod or iPad and not an iPhone. This would allow them to connect basically whenever they want if the access is easy to get.

Cedar Rapids, my hometown, is somewhat considering getting citywide wifi. I doubt it'll happen, but that'd be awesome. I think it is connected to the towers

Wide band wifi would be technically possible, but it would be less secure and definitely slower than regular wifi. The cost would have to be offset by charging a premium to users it being partially funded by the local government. Also repeaters would have to be placed somewhere (some have proposed rooftops) to help amplify the signal. So yea, it's possible. Just not cost effective

I have seen it in the UK in certain areas.
But it costs you extra to use it.

Or the red light and speeding cameras.
