I recently took my 1995 Chevy Blazer to my camp. It was running just fine and all the fluids were okay. It made it back just fine also. But when I went to use it later after I got back the engine is idling very low and causes the whole car to shake. When you press the gas it takes a second for the rpm's to increase. The breaks don't want to work and it is a struggle to keep it from stalling when stopped. This wouldn't be weird but last year when I went to my camp it did the same exact thing. The driveway there is very bumpy and causes the car to rock a lot. Any advice as to what might be causing this would be greatly appreciated.

Since it is an older vehicle could there be a build up in the gas tank that was stirred up and causing the problems? If so, would replacing the fuel filter help?

How long did it take to stop last time?

that happened to a 1995 escort i had about 7-8 years ago. new fuel filter took care of it but i didnt take it on any bumpy roads. same symptoms though.

Sounds like a fuel issue, could be a dirty fuel filter, bad spark plugs, fuel pump. Start with using an ODB2 reader and scan engine for any codes, if not, run the diagnostics test. Fuel filter do it if you don't know ehen it was last changed. Then check spark plugs.

Did u fuel up at the same place when leaving camp? If so try an octane boost. If not try above suggestions, obd2 should be first so your not throwing $ away.

U said the breaks arent working very good either? Check for a vacuum leak. Ur brakes run off vacuum. If its real bumpy, u could have a loose connection on a vacuum line. Does the AC work? On some vehicles the AC vent selector runs off vacuum. If the AC only blows out the defrost now, look into a loose line.

Mackmech is correct. Sounds like vacuum leak

It stopped after a couple weeks last time and I'm willing to wait it out again this time if I have to but if there is possibly an easy and inexpensive fix I would do it because I am supposed to be taking it on a trip this weekend. I don't fill it with gas while I am there so I don't think that is the issue. The AC blows but does not get cold, but it hasn't for years so that isn't a change. I didn't need to do anything last time this happened it just gradually got better as I used it more.

Also check fuses and relays and if ones out check what it operates.

Just turn up the idle it won't stall then lol

Things I'd definitely do is replace the fuel filter and check your vacuum lines. Both of these things could strand you if they get too bad, not to mention a clogged filter puts strain on your fuel pump and could fry the pump.

You need a new transmission and your break fluid is low and or also your break pads.

One issue I haden a dodge, I know 😜, there was a filter on the carb that got clogged, as soon as I cleaned out the wire mesh it ran fine.
