Just seen the announcement for the 12th,
now as all hints go towards that it could be the release of the iPhone 5.

if you look at the logo, is it me or is the shadow of the 12 a 5?

My guess is that the 12 represents december and the 5 represents the iphone/ipad 5

They wouldn't release it in December. That's far to close to christmass. They would release it before to maximise sales and have the whole hype and lead up to christmass

Your logic makes no sense. iPhones are numbered yes except the 1st one same with 1st iPad then obviously ipad2. The latest iPad is just iPad or the new iPad but it seems the phones will continued to be numbered.

Actually the iPhones were pretty oddly numbered. It went something like this:
iPhone
iPhone 3G
iPhone 3Gs
iPhone 4
iPhone 4s
