Well my daughter just turned one. (Happy B day Lilly! Daddy loves ya!)
It's been an interesting and crazy year. As a parent I've learned a few valuable things along the way. Things people don't tell you.
Like the how the inside of an empty bottle smells once it's sat for more than 30 minutes 😖
That kids are a great excuse to either- not have to go to a party/event/get together. "sorry she's not feeling good/ she's fussy" etc. Or the opportunity they give to duck out of said event early if you weren't able to convince the wife to not go. "She's tired/ we didn't bring enough formula to stay long" etc.
Add yours if you're a parent and have some insights as I'm sure I'm not the only one that has figured some of this stuff out -
Happy bday lily! 🔥👍💪

Happy birthday, Lilly! After I became a parent, I learned I needed to become a more responsible adult.

Happy Birthday Lilly!🎉🎁
I learned that no matter how much you say you aren't gonna be like your parents, eventually you see that you have become them😜
You never know how much strength you truly posess until you have to be strong for your child.
I also learned that the only fear that is left in my body after all these years of living is the fear of something happening to my children.

I've learned more from my 4 year old son about life & the priceless momments than anything in my 34yrs of life!! & Ꮹཞ།ཀཀ just a word of advice, everyone says beware of the terrible 2's! It's the F***'in 4's to really to be wary of, LOL!!

Happy bday to your daughter, Grimm. The fun has only begun, man. Wait for the terrible twos. Things I've learned as a parent. You turn your back for 10 seconds, something WILL be destroyed. Kids can literally hide ANYWHERE. Unwanted food will wind up on the ceiling. Stairs = evil. Stepping on a Lego is the most painful experience ever. And finally, you learn to almost enjoy watching Dora the explorer.

Happy birthday Lilly! 🎉 Wait for potty training bro... I remember my boy pulling his pants down at a wedding and squatting! 😂💩😱 enjoy it all, they grow up too fast!

Yeah, I'm gonna say that 15year old girls are pretty close to extra terrestrial encounters! My daughter has become something of alien denomination and I totally don't understand😰MARVLAS wrote:

Clark is right. With a boy you have 1 penis to worry about. With a girl, you have ALL of them! When my daughter gets that age, i will make every tat shown!MARVLAS wrote:

I've learned Izzy will say the wrong thing in public every single time. I've learned to open the toy closet door slowly! I've learned that I'm still a big softly when my little girl crys.

Thanks everyone! Love all the answers given so far. Words of wisdom for any parent 👍

A very Happy Birthday to Lilly! I offer no advice except to say enjoy each moment and remember to laugh a lot! Ok so maybe it's advice but either way Happy Birthday!

I don't have kids of my own yet, but since I was 10 I've helped raise my little sisters, and other peoples children, and my words are easy to know.
If you threaten a punishment, such as no desert, or timeout, or no toys, and then have to go through with it.... no matter how much they kick and scream and cry, do not give in.
You do it once, and they know you'll do it again, and punishments lose all believability in their little minds. -
🎉🎉Happy B-day Lilly!🎉🎉

Happy birthday for u Grimm! I say that because the first year should be a celebration for the parents as you have made it! Good job! I have a 3 yo boy and my daughter just turned 1 a month ago. Things I have learned from them are countless but I think I have learned the most about psychology. I mean how the hell can a perfectly happy and loving toddler change at the drop of a hat into a fire spitting demon?!?!?!?! Then when mom comes in its back to little angle. Drives me crazy. But live the hell out of them all the same.

Love not live.

Happy Birthday to your little girl. One thing to watch out for is to be very suspicious when ur child is being very quiet somewhere. Most likely they are destroying ur house in some way or doing something they should not be doing. My kids fav was drawing on their bedroom walls with crayons or pens...

Grimm, when she gets older encourage sports..... The wife can't get pissy if you're chatting up the single moms during sporting events. Yay for basketball and softball!
-
I remembered another one- you'll have reflexes like you never thought humanly possible.
-
Happy belated birthday to your princess. 👍
Here's a small pearl for you...
Never ever become complacent when it come to time passing!!!! Spend some time every day, reflecting on how much of a beautiful family you have. Cherish each and every day and do your very best through all the tough times which come along with any family unit.
Complacency enables time to creep by and before you know it your little girl is all grown up. I let this happen, now my baby is in her GCSE year at school and although I'm only 32, she's almost the age her mum and I were when she was born!
We broke up and I let issues with my ex get in the way of my daughters relationship with me. I feel as though We both have lost out.
No matter what... Be there! That's all that matters! Cuts, bruises, trips and falls will happen. Illnesses will come and go. The tears, the tantrums and the door slamming will test resolve, but these things can help forge the strongest bonds!
Much love to you and your family dear friend. 👍

Some great advice right there, knight.

Wait til you have another one ( or 4) 😰

I got a 12 year old daughter, and looking back now, i sometimes miss her beeing the age of 1 or 2.
What i mean is, the stuff they pull off, the amazement they get by certain objects, all of that. And grimm, like knight said, spend time with her. And make sure to ay with her a lot when she gets a bit older...
Tickeling her, throwing her into the couch, play horsie for her.... Trust me, she will love you more for it.
Also, do t forget to hig your little one, as they will start to recognise it at later age as how much you really love them.Ps: all my daughters friends want to swap with my daughter as they all say: " youre dad is a crazy guy, doing all that stuff with you"
When she first told me that, you cant imagine how proud it made me feel, as i k ew right then that i was doing a good job beeing a dad 😜
