So im 15 im not allowed to play m rated games and stuff but i passed some kids that at most were 12 years old talking about mw3 an skyrim. My dad when he sees me playing a teen rated game kinda frowns upon it too they are like really strict. But i do know a person in my grade that has baiscaly never played a video game😳Some times it just ticks me off! I mean come on people! The only time i get to play m rated games and not get in trouble is when i have friends over and they bring their games (and sometimes accidently leave them😉) i did ask my dad once if i could get Mw3 or skyrim and then he asked me what they were rated and i answered and immediatly "No." and then a long lecture on why not😒 thanks for listening to my rant please give me your imput on what you think

Yea, I find it especially annoying when I'm playing fps games for the fun of it and I hear a 10 year old kid on the other side of the game call me a noob because he's got a 15 kill streak

That there is a good parent!
I remember when my dad MADE me play silent hill when I was 9 years old. And the horror movies he invited me to watch.
All I can say is that I'm psychologically messed up in the head now :') -

They are your parents and you should obey them. A lot of kids these days have a big mouth and throw around curse words... When I have kids I probably will do the same as your parents.

My parents WERE like that. Now I can play M games any day now...as long as it has nothing involving sex.

I was always allowed to play everything & anything.
But I live in Germany where all is a little more relaxed.

I love German logic. They allow you to drink earlier with parents so you can learn responsibility and they make you wait till you are 18 to get your drivers license.I was always allowed to play everything & anything.

Your parents treat you that way because they love you and want what they believe is best for you. Besides, it's their home or, as I like to say, their beach and their waves.
There likely will come a time that you'll be able to play any game you want, watch whatever you want, etc. Here is what you are gonna find out: you really haven't missed a thing.👍

Me too. I got my first t rated game when I was seven on accident, and my parents were cautious about ratings until a year or two ago.N_O_O_B wrote:

When I was in the third grade, I wanted the new green day CD which my mom ended up getting me. My cousin reads the back and tries to tell my mom that it said "parental advise" or whatever the hell it is. I was so pissed off at my cousin but my mOm didn't take it away 😊

Ask them if you can buy it. If thay don't like it sell it to GameStop.

Here's the problem in American society these days. There aren't enough parents like darker digital's. Many of the parents who grew up in the 70's and early 80's were from a strict family household. Those people decided they were going to be more lenient on their kids. Now we have ten year olds dropping the f bomb more than I do and talking about killing people and "fucking some bitches." Now, I'm by no means a strict parent, but I don't let my 10 year old daughter play games rated t or above. I just dont think she's ready to handle that type of stuff.
-
There's no way I'd let my kids play some of this stuff. I was in Game stop three weeks ago and a woman was their buying a rated M game for a kid that couldn't possibly have been more than six years old. SMDH.
I think fifteen is probably old enough, but your parents are just trying to protect you and raise you with good morals. Nothing wrong with that. -

That's how I felt when my mom took my ICP cd away when I was 12/13. But there's no way in Hell I'd let my 12/13 year old listen to that garbage.

It comes with maturity.
Show some initiative and stop whining about it. If you act more mature about life you'll be looked on as more mature and will get the perks that come with it. My parents used to not let me play anything over E 10+. Now I can play whatever games I want and spend my money on almost anything I want to get. Don't whine about not being able to buy them; say that it's fine and you'll wait until they see it acceptable for you to play them, and it wouldn't hurt to ask your parents if they need help with anything daily or start a budget for yourself.
-
My parents let play what ever I like, but I think you should be able to play wat ever u like as long as your not f bombing or talking about killing and crap and doesn't have sex in it. Then you should play what ever you like because u proved that your mature of enought
-
Listen to your parents, they know what's best for you mate. But Prehaps you could help out a little around the house and show that you are working hard in class to show them how mature you are? That would prob go some why to helping them relax their rules.
-
Well, i never liked skyrim anyways, but your parents are doing the right thing, but i believe waiting untill you are 17 for a video game is stupid, by then you should have a life and a job, then video games will become very little use to you, or you should do something real

I just feel so left out u know😓

Yeah, the feeling sucks. Take my advice, I've been in your situation before and now I'm doing fine. Just gotta make everyone think you can accept normal responsabilities and you'll be looked at as having the maturity to handle an M rated game. Most likely. Unless your parents are rating nuts.I just feel so left out u know😓

So what most of you are saying is that it will get better with time and to respect my parents. I have been thinking and looking back i was never allowed to play shooting games but now i play cod2,Tribes ascend,Americas army and some james bond so i guess over time it will evolve into what i want when the time comes.

Or just suck it up and realize that if you don't like their rules in three years you can move out and play whatever you want.
Problem with that scenario is you'll be too damn broke to afford any games.
For now you need to make friends with gamers and spend time with them. If you are a little 👿...

Blasphemy!
I'm also extremely relieved to hear that once I hit age 17 that my video game addiction days will be long gone. 👧👍

My dad got me the original CoD for my eighth birthday 👍. I can play anything I want as long as I pay for it, the catch is, I don't want to play anything rated M for anything other than violence. I always use the graphic/language filter on the CoD games, and would never play a game with a sexual rating of over "some sensuality" or whatever. That stuff rots your brain and morality. Your parents are just protecting you.
