WD40: stands for water displacement test #40. The military went through looking for a single lubricant for I believe aircrafts (google it to be sure) that would withstand freeze point, durability against environment, and the conditions an aircraft goes through. To maintain and not loose lubrication for moving mechanisms when in battle. They went through so many lubricant experiments they just started naming them water displacement tests.

Does anyone know the real reason why they say you shouldn't drive over a certain speed limit on a spare tire? No, it has nothing to do with how the wheel is made. I'll post the answer shortly. Have to grab the phone charger.

It's because the probability of the person driving in wet conditions is so great it's a safety hazard. The reason you are not supposed to go over the designed speed limit imprinted on the spare tire itself or in the owners manual. Is because it creates a safety hazard flaw and weakness in the design of the vehicles structure. Example: if you had a car with the spare in the trunk. If you were to get hit in the rear end without the spare in the vehicle. The structure would crush in areas it wasn't designed for and place the passengers in the vehicle at a higher risk for injury. When the vehicle structure is designed and tested. It has the spare in it, and when the car collapses. The spare is the strong point made to allow the crush points of the vehicles structure to properly work. Creating a safer environment for passengers inside of vehicle. This is the same method for all vehicles even full framed vehicles as well.

So if you were to drive under the allowed speed limit on the spare and got into an accident. The vehicle would still crush how it was designed, not affecting that far into the vehicles structure due to the impact not being as severe per factory specifications.
