Since when did NU METAL become ALTERNATIVE?
never really paid attention but just recently I was looking at some of my songs on my iPod and discovered it's not called nu metal anymore

Perfect example of nu metal is linken park

But they're called alternative now.... What gives?

Probably because of the electronic beats in the songs. Most new alternative has beats influenced by dubstep and electronica music. Just an idea.

Lol same I mainly listen to anything before 90s once I hit the 90s I stop
There's those rare occasions I find a song or artist/group to be worth listening to from nowadays but my heart is with the classics

Certain bands that were grouped in the nu metal group are nowhere near alternative. Bands like mushroomhead, slipknot, and mudvayne really can't be classified as alternative.

I thought linken park was always alternative. I haven't given much thought but these genres can be used in many ways. It's a grey area especially dealing with "metal"(s) lol😝

🙍 yet they are, the title nu metal doesn't even seem to exist anymore
