😳😱😞 How could I have gotten this wrong. You're right. There's no way it could literally translate to "how do you call yourself" but be an idiom for "my name is." Bobo.

Lol sorry guys but 415 is right my friend who speaks fluent Spanish agrees with 415

Btw it's not about being bi lingual spelling and grammar police it's jut about you learning the correct translations and not literal translations

That's one of the best feelings in the world! I mean, 15 years studying Spanish as a language with 9 of those years living in Spanish countries/territories and I NEVER realized that! Thank you guy!

Sorry guys, I've just talked to native speakers before and they laughed at me for saying "me llamo". They told me to say "me nombre es__".

It's cool, apology accepted. Not sure if your friends are messing with you, but "mi nombre es" is formal, like if you were at a job interview or in court. "Me llamo" is informal, like if you were meeting a friend of a friend, talking to a girl at the mall, or whatever. Maybe it differers in Spain, but that's how it is in the Spanish we speak in the Americas.

Me llamo means "I call myself" (more smoothly translated to "my name is"). Llamar can be used in that way or as in using the phone.

Haha, had to type this 3 times because apparently, no puedo hablar Ingles!
