Does anyone here have a gluten allergy? How did you find out? What were your symptoms? Are you taking measures to help it? Have you changed your diet? If so, how? What can you eat now? What can't you eat now? Has it helped? In what way(s)? How do you feel now versus then?
Thanks

Thanks everyone. I'm not sure if that's what's up with me, but I get frequent stomach aches (like pretty much everyday as long as I can remember since I was a kid), and someone suggested that it might be a gluten allergy.

A good friend has it. They found out behind the wheel of the car on the motorway. Fade to white. They woke up in hospital with the car written off and doctors checking their vital signs and applying a chest paddle.
After a battery of allergy tests, it was gluten that was found to be the bad guy. They now walk around with an adrenaline pen (which I have been trained to use).
The diet is quite restrictive but not too bad. They just switch out carbs. So no bread or pasta but these can be switched for potatoes and rice with the right recipes.
Plus have to be careful about alcoholic drinks...99% of beer is a no no (bud is ok, perhaps explains why it's so souless).
Other than that, basically have to watch you eat. Processed food is mostly off the menu. And pizza is defo out unless using special flour.

Random, you just crushed my soul. Pasta, pizza & beer are my lifeblood! Why go on living?! 😰😣😨😪

Check out Ezekiel Bread. It's made with sprouted wheat and Im pretty sure its gluten free. Much better than some other gluten free breads. There are also gluten free pastas, they just have a slightly different taste.

Bella I recently found out that celiac disease runs in my family. It's an auto immune thing that is basicly a gluten intolerance. I'm told by my sister, who has it, that if left untreated it can turn into stomach cancer. There are a few gluten free beers out there I've never tried them so I can't tell you how they are. I am going to get tested for celiac in the next couple of weeks for the same upset stomach reasons.
You also can't have Chinese food if you have a gluten intolerance. -

You don't mention much of your symptoms.... Have you concidered Irritable Bowel Syndrome, IBS? Worth a google :)

A coworker of mine was getting sick constantly for months. Finally found out that he had to go gluten free. He's found enough ways to get around it now though. There's even a couple pizza places in town that serve gluten free pizza. I saw the pizza it didn't look too bad.

The availability of gluten free products are at least somewhat decent in developed parts of Asia though the cost is quite a bit more. As to alternatives of barley, rye, malt, wheat which all contain gluten, it's cutting down the consumption (depending on how severe one's allergic reactions are.
No Chinese food? Never heard that! There's rice and rice noodles which are also staples out here. Sanyo Japan has a bread maker that uses rice but it's sold only in Japan for now. Plus it's Msrp is apparently just under USD1k (but that's high and really depends on discount one gets).
Guess its also good to check how intolerant you are to the bread, pasta, beers etc mentioned above. Many ways to combat this.
Sorry to hear about it & to robo37 too for the family history of celiac. Trust that all will be good for you tho.

I'm not trying to be a jackass but it could be you have one of those prolonged periods?

Many people even some in my family have gluten allergies to various degrees. Notice there are more gluten free products because of the demand. Leech don't say things to provoke a fight. 😱😱👿👿

I made a gluten free vegan pizza tonight & we got multi grain gluten free crackers to eat with Brie, gruyere & gouda. The pizza was so so. Mostly bc of the crust. The crackers weren't bad though.

If you have an Albertson's grocery store nearby, give them a try. Everything on the shelves is marked with a tag if it's gluten free. The loaves of sliced bread are in the frozen section. I usually get out of there paying about what I used to for a regular grocery trip. There are also several gluten free beers, Bard's is one of the big brands. Let's just say it's better than no beer. All work and no beer make fnord a dull boy All work and no beer make fnord a dull boy All work and no beer make fnord you get the idea

Have you been reading 'Wheat Belly'? If not then you should. Everyone should. It's something like 70% of the population that actually does have a gluten allergy.

I am lactose intolerant but was tested for gluten also. The test is just a simple blood test.

👆👆👆Wheat is bad, period. Cutting wheat out of your diet has enormous health benefits.
