I've made SEVERAL traffic stops where the person driving seems like an extremely nice law abiding person, get back in my car and BAM wanted for a violent crime. The fact is I do work law enforcement, and like someone said alot of police officer attitudes are based off of situations that they have encountered. I am polite to every person I encounter, however close to 70% of my politeness is returned with rudeness. And with all the people that I come across, the day I let my guard down will be day same day my wife becomes a widow.

I hate cops. All cops. If u currently wear a badge, you have an authority complex. These are just my opinions. All be it, deeply imbedded. But still opinions.
Wow that's stupid o.o
So basically, what you're employed affects your compl.... I don't know how to put it, but man grow up -

thats police harrasment. im in the NYPD, and i really do understand and respect all bad blood people have with police. all im saying is report him. thats bad, truly bad for any man with a badge to abuse his powerI have my CHL and I take my gun with me everywhere I go, except to work. There is a police officer in a nearby town that if he stops you, he will take your gun, go sit in his car with his gunsmithing tools, and completely take apart every piece of the gun - springs and all. Then, he will kindly put them in a plastic bag and return it to you so that you can go on your way. He has done this to several of my buddies and we even talked about this issue in my CHL class.
I know that this is an isolated case but it is extremely frustrating when things like this occur. Most police officers that I know personally are genuinely good people who truly love their job and what they do.

you sir have a great view on this topic, an i must applaude you for thatThere are good cops and bad cops. Any position of any kind of power will have people that are corrupt, and people that are so far from it it's scary.
The prOblem is that you hear about the corruption far more often than you hear about the good.
I hold no faith in anything as a whole, and judge people based on what I know of them. -
Cops in my hometown (Springfield mo) seem to harass people more then they protect.
I'm sure they have their orders, and I've talked with many nice men in uniform, but often they seem only interested in whether or not someone is rolling a stop sign at an intersection where cross-traffic is literally nonexistent. -
I've had my good experiences with cops, and my bad ones. This one night it was way late and I was leaving a friends house, less than 5 mins from mine. I decided to go 15 over (or so they said. I know it was way more) on my motorcycle and somehow didn't see cops turning on to the road and they ended up pulling me over. They both get out and do the regular questions and asked why I did what I did, plus license and registration and plate which I didn't have on the bike (on purpose). I was polite and apologetic, and they returned the respect. After they checked me in the system, they came back and asked me what I think they should do. I told them whatever they thought was fair and they ended up giving me a warning. Throughout the whole thing, they were genuinely nice. It's guys like that that give me hope that all cops aren't assholes. All my other stories, not so pleasant

Two of my grand fathers had careers in
Law enforcement. Both have told me that they are usually disgusted by what they see from younger officers nowadays. Police are taught to almost instinctively assume anyone may be a potential threat. I mean how are officers supposed to establish a normal interaction with the public when the police don't identify as part of normal society? -

I guess the only reason why they think that( in my opinion) is that the nicest face and kind attitude can hide a horrible and dangerous person. But no matter what you do you can't be paranoid in your actions as a police officer, it's what makes the difference between you defending yourself and doing something completely stupid. Two of my grand fathers had careers in
