# of NBA teams reduced

.. To just the lakers and heat.
What's the point? Lets just have them play one playoff series and then go bax to the offseason. Big market teams are getting rediculous. They could easily cut 10 teams from the NBA and no one would even know...
Side note, go jazz? Sigh.
-
Go bulls of the 90's!
-
Those damn big market teams! The Mavs won 2 years ago. San Antonio? Friggin big market, how many have they won in the past decade 4?
-
It's all about money to them sometimes in which I hate ! If they do reduce the number of teams, that would destroy all those cities income by a long shot !

Seeing Howard go to the Lakers made me sick. I probably won't pay much attention to basketball this season. I played league ball when I was younger, and it was always my favorite sport by far, but over the last 5 years my interest has slowly been dropping. Nash, Kobe, Artest, Gasol & Howard is a sick, sick lineup, though.

Ive become very bitter with the NBA the last few years. The same 5-6 teams get the free agent stars.
For the guy mentioning the Mavs (not a small market franchise) and Spurs, they don't get big time free agents they just draft incredibly well.
This is what makes the NFL so great. Free agents will go play almost anywhere. The owners have it up to where almost every franchise is a good destination and has a good chance to win. And the only franchises players dont want to go play for are the franchises who have been run poorly the last decade or two (Jacksonville Cleveland and Cincy come to mind)
-
The NFL can have a Super Bowl of Pittsburgh and Arizona and can break tv records. Can you imagine how poor the ratings of an NBA or MLB championship would be with those kind of small market teams?
-
If they wanted to make the NBA worth watching, they would only pay the winning team!! Make all those primadonnas EARN their Lamborghini 😁

The same thing has already happened to baseball. The Yankees payroll triples the baseball average - and the big market teams like Anaheim, Boston, Los Angeles are always in the running for the postseason. Meanwhile, 50% of the league has no real shot from year to year. Sure, there are exceptions like the Cubs who spend like a divorcee in Vegas and win about as often. But most of your perennial competitors have the payrolls to show why. Meanwhile, flash in the pan upstarts like the Rockies, Royals, and (this yr) Pirates lose their best players to free agency. The NBA and MLB are broken. Salary Caps = better competition = better revenue for the leagues, but the players unions are dead set against them. Ahh well, enjoy slipping further into obscurity. It's almost football season!

The Celtics always got a chance! Go C's! 👍👍
-
Raptors of 2005!
-
I get tired of seeing the
Celtics
Heat
Lakers
Mavs
Spurs
Bulls
In the playoffs EVERY year ( with exception of a few on this list )
Go 2007 Cavs! -
golden state warriors. go get em.

I'm still a baseball fan, and I agree. It's ridiculous. Small market teams typically have a 3 year window if everything breaks perfectly for them. Then their teams gets blown up. In the NFL, no matter where your franchise is located, if you draft the right QB you're going to be really good for a decade. Free agency without a salary cap has hurt the popularity of both sports. Its hard for fans of small market teams to stay invested into their team if theyre going to lose their star player in a few years.

Ah yes, the "large market" Roy Tarpley Mavericks and Artis Gilmore Spurs were very feared successful teams.
And don't forget the awesome heat from 88-05. What a scary large market team.
-
Truly a large market team is the Knicks, but how many championships have they won?
-
Don't worry guys, look like it's just been a big misunderstanding.

The Heat had a good few years in there. Knicks fans remember those grueling playoff series during Miami's Zo years. As for the Knicks, no size market can overcome piss poor ownership and management. Aside from the Lakers' market, they have Jerry Buss who ALWAYS wants to win, and that showed itself once again when they got Nash and Howard during this offseason.

I don't even care right now. As a diehard Magic fan, I'm practically giddy to see them finally get rid of Howard. Good riddance! He's still one of the best players, but his waffling, whining, and manipulation just was too much to bear. Welcome to Al Harrington, Arron Afflalo, and the other guys coming to the Magic.
-
I'd rather watch NFL draft than NBA finals
NBA is like watching WWF. I stopped watching after sac town blatantly screwed in playoffs for lakers 2001 west conf finals. Later confirmed refs on the take.
I want to know if the NBA is fixed.
David stern wants know when I'm going to stop beating my wife.

I'm not usually a Sac fan, but I was that playoffs. That was disheartening.
