I have spent over 2 years running our wiki, and it has been a great experience. So many of us have spent a lot of time contributing, (some more than I have), 564 registered contributors, 1.25 Million page views, 2,184 articles... Awesome.

I strongly believe the wiki does not belong to me. It belongs to us.

So, I'd like to put out an offer. If you have experience with servers, and know your way around a wiki, and want to host the wiki yourself, I'm willing to give it up.

Maybe some of you out there would put some fresh ideas into the project and take pride in it as I have.

If not, I don't want anyone to worry about the wiki going away. I take it as a responsibility to you that it continues to be there for us.

Gotcha! Well offer still stand for the future! If I had time I'd volunteer for sure! The wiki is a vital part of the community. But I'm kinda got a full plate these days!

I really enjoy being an editor on the wiki and I would do it if I wasn't so busy right now. Maybe some time in the near future.

People like Mystery are admins in the wiki software, and have nearly as much control as I do on the wiki, yes. But someone has to maintain the server, domain name, hacks, patches, scripts, plugins, etc.

Someone needs to know how to manipulate the MySQL backend, occasionally update the software, keep the bad-guys out, do backups, and generally be responsible for the entire wiki infrastructure.

It's not really a great deal of work. The hard stuff like semantic extensions and structure are done. The time I spend at this point is minimal and mainly discretionary.

But the responsibility is somewhat taxing. I am the caretaker for countless hours of other people's work. Just that idea alone is enough to make me ask: Anybody else want a go for a while? 😄

If not, I will continue.

How big is it? One of my friends helps run a server for games and several sites. He may be able to run it. (and he is a programming whiz!)

As being a sysadmin i am running quite a few virtual linux servers myself using esx, debian and centos.. Have worked with mediawiki before.. I could make a seperate host.. I think u have done a great job in maintaining the wiki for us and i actually hope u keep doing it. But i can offer u my assistance...

Lol you're level 58... You can hit 60 from there in just a few hours.. (or minutes depending on cash)

We run 7 servers for games and are making income through our minecraft and aos server. He plays minecraft as well, and besides, I would most likey be the one to perform the backups on it. IF the server went away, I (or he) could host it. It's up to you. Just wondering how large so I can ask him.

K, thanks for considering it. Love the wiki and hope you find the right guy or gal! (and I will ask him and make sure our offer is always open if needed) :)
