This weeks episode is: Fatal passion
(Please note that this episode might only catch uk players attention but us players are welcome to join in and guess)Scene: Masters hotel and lodge
The dead body of Mr Colin Adams, the famous romance novelist from the U.K., lay slumped across his hotel room desk. His hand lay near an empty bottle of sleeping pills and a open book of his most recent novel "Love in England" with a pen right next to it. A suicide note lay on the desk. "Its so strange," said the bellhop Freddie Phillips, "as I was carrying Mr Queens bags he was talking excitedly about being in the country side. As a matter of fact, he said this was the first time he had ever been to the U.S., and he was planning to write his next novel with the U.S. country side as the setting. We were looking forward to it." Columbo and the detective looked at the note which read,

I have lost the will to live. My work has received all the honor it deserves. My writing was the center of my life, but in retrospect, I suppose they're just trashy novels. As the color fades from my eyes, I can only hope for a better life in the next world. "Based on this I'm sure Mr. Queen was murdered." declared Columbo. "What's your take on this?" said Columbo turning to the detective.
Alright detectives Columbo has put you on the spot with this very simple riddle. Try not to let Columbo down on this! Remember to state wether or not you think it's a suicide or murder and if a murder who could have done it.
And why you think it's a suicide or murder and preset the evidence. Good luck detectives!

Mr.Queens?

He did it, as well as writing the note I guessHis pen was next to a novel called love in England. The bellhop said that Mr. queen was excited about writing a book based in America. The bellhop did it.

The suicide note doesn't make sense. How would he be able to write "as the color fades from my eyes" before he knew what it was like to die.

I found that my description that's quoted here doesn't make sense. It said his latest novel "love in England" and that he was writing his NEXT novel about the US country side. So I came up with a new theory that's written above.DubstepKing wrote:

Both my answers could work but for now without clarification of the story I'm going with the one quoted above. The suicide note doesn't make sense. How would he be able to write "as the color fades from my eyes" before he knew what it was like to die.

Honour was spelled the American way, as in honor.

... meaning the American murderer wrote the note. As in who did it? Stephen King maybe, out of jealous rage, to wipe out the competition.Honour was spelled the American way, as in honor.

I think it was suicide. He had an (I assume) already published novel near him, and sleepIng pills, with a pen next to him and wrote the note.
In reality, we could simply take fingerprint samples from all the evidence I just listed and compare it to the bellhop and the author, right?

There was no water to take piles with. Bellboy got a lot of info from just carrying bags! And what's with the "we were looking forward to it"? The bellboy was an aspiring writer who had become obsessed with the deceased. He killed him and made it look like suicide. 🔨

Detective Maybe Katie Then said, "Wait, this man is from the Uk right?"
Columbo then replied, "Yes, he is."
"Then why did he spell honour, centre, and colour, in the American version?" asked Katie.
Columbo then replied, "Because his killer apparently was not from the UK and did not know that the british spell it differently."
"Then who did it then?" inquired detective Katie.
"One of his fans who wasn't pleased about not getting an autograph. Isn't that right Fred?"
The bellhop quickly looked frightened and said, "Uh.., I... I, didn't mean to..." and quickly pushed detective Katie to the side knocking Columbo off his feet. The bellhop ran to the door where Katie soon followed in pursuit and quickly tackled and cuffed him before he could escape. Columbo soon recovered and caught up with the detective and said short of breath, "great work detective,(pants) I'll go get a squad car." -
4 days later prints from the lab that were taken from the book and pen came back a positive match to the bellhops. He was tried and convicted of 1st degree murder of Mr Adams(aka Queen) and sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Great work
I will speak to the chief about your accomplishment for detection Katie.
