  They only need different forms of training because they exist. If their wasnt separate events for each form of stroke, wouldnt everyone just use their most effiecent way? I don't even attempt to compare myself to Olympians, and I highly respect the ability of swimmers, but there should be a line drawn somewhere. Same goes with track. I used a highly hyperbolized example to make the point that their are way to many distinctions of what seems to be a straightforward event. If my hyperbolized example existed, you would have people training very hard to hit those shots, and varying their endurance levels due to the different quarter times, so you would breed the same sort of environment that there is in swimming. I don't think swimming or track(although to me swimming is worse in this way) is the worst sport, but I think it is against the nature of the Olympics to have so many divisions.

  Yah rugby would be awesome, but i bet you cant put out all the professional players, like the football, you have to have all under 23, and you get like 3 other players any age you want

  I think all the Olympic sports that weren't in the original sports should be taken out. The Olympics were to show who was the best warrior. Some they had were:
  Archery
  Wrestling
  Weight lifting
  Javelin throwing
  All the running ones
  Long jumping
  Boxing
  All these sports showed what they wanted a good warrior to have. The Olympics didn't stay that way.

  I wish we went back to only have sport in the olympics that prove your a warrior! Golf? Horse riding? Football? Trampoline? The list goes on!

  Also judo. If judo is an olympic sport, why cant we have other fighting disciplines in the olympics?

  On a side note. Everyone makes such a huge deal about michael phelps and all his medals callig him te greatest olympian ever. Pfffft. If the gymnasts (or any other sport) had 63848461 events, there would be a lot of people w that many medals.....

  The French are very good at rugby actually, the US are fairly poor. They do try though I have to say.

  I'm all for beer pong being an Olympic sport, but badminton and ping pong, really? The original shot put was a metal disk, where's that at? And has anybody seen pole vaulting yet? I haven't . But when the gymnasts do the work on the horse that's ingredible

  I don't think that any team sports should be in the Olympics. Like come on, I don't care what country has the best basketball team. Oh and I don't think that professional athletes should be able to go to the Olympics.
