Missing £

You see a £97 shirt, but don't have any cash, so you borrow £50 from your mum & £50 from your dad = £100. You buy the shirt, have £3 change so give mum £1, dad £1, & keep the £1 for yourself, you now owe mum £49, dad £49 so £49 + £49 = £98 & your £1 makes £99 so where is the missing £1 ???

You still have it, meaning £101 has been circulating.
-

You are ment to - the £1 you have. Ie 49 + 49 - 1 = £97. The price of the shirt. Why are you ment to minus it? Because if you gave that £ to your Dad you would owe 48 + 49 = 97.

  (=•.•=)??
 Hmmm... So
In simple terms.Borrowed from Mom: +50
 Borrowed from Dad: +50
 Total borrowed: +100
 Repaid Mom: -1
 Repaid Dad: -1Total (re)paid: -2 Piad for shirt 97
total kept 1total still owe -98
 -98+-2 =-100
-

Simple. You minus the £1 from the 98 rather than trying to reach £100. You are trying to match the price of the shirt

I'd check the pocket of the shirt. I'll bet that's where you'll find that £. 👍

You need to break that dollar into .50 cents and pay them. Then you would have paid them each 1.50. Still owing each of them 48.50? Bc 48.50 times 2 is 97. And you have already given back the other 3 dollars.

Just so you know, this question causes me anxiety every time.
