My mam is ill...
Forums › General Discussion › My mam is ill...-
Just got home after work to hear my mam shouting for help. She has been decorating for the past couple of days and she's hurt her back and now can't move. That's really bad, but not the reason I'm scared.
She's been ill for a while and skirted around it when I ask and passes it off as if there'd nothing wrong. I took this oppertu ity to ask what was reallygoing on.
Turns out that all of the tests she's having at the hospital is to work out whether she has crohn's disease.

Now I know that this isn't the end of the world, and I know that it's "easy" to fix providing they have caught it early enough, but what if they haven't? What if it's worse than she's making out? Don't get me wrong me and my youngest brother (the one that still lives at home) will do all we can to help her and to make life as comfortable and normal as it is now.
I guess I'm just scared. If it was happening to me I would be fine. I'd carry on like she has and hide it from everyone and just live me life like I did, but this is my mam.
I'm going to spend the next 7 hours sitting herew\itingfor her to call out for help, then my bother is going to get up. He'll be around for afew hours (3-4) before I get up again.
I know this sounds pathetic, even more so than my post earlier. But it's my mam, and I'm really bloody scared. Sorry TW, just had to say it somewhere.

Your family will be in my prayers.
-
It doesn't sound pathetic and it's nothing to be sorry for. I know I'd feel the same way if anything ever happened to my mom. I hope she gets better.
-
I'm a kid to and I'd be scared out of my frigging mind if that happened. It's not pathetic and nothing to be sorry for. You will be in my prayers.
-
Thanks guys.
Like to point out that I'm not a "kid". I'm 26, but when it comes to my mam I may as well be. The thought of her being ill or maybe not being here scared the crap out of me. I'm by no stretch of tyhe imagination a "mammy's boy", but the thought of her not being around scares and upsets me in a way I can't explain.
I understand that what's going on isn't OVERLY serious when compared to other things, but it still scared the f****ing crap out of me. Just feel completely helpless.
-
Karas, I completely understand where you're coming from. I'm 33 and bawled like a baby when my mom told me she had cancer.
-
I just feel helpless. There's alot in my life I have control over, and a lot that is due to my own actions, but this is something I can't control and through no fault of my own, and certainly through no fault of my mam's. Just feel helpless.
Don't really know what to do.

Karas, I just wanted to say that you and your mum are in my thoughts and prayers🙏 I hope all turns out well!

Thanks guys. Nice to know I'm not alone, that some of you care, and that some of you understand what's going on and what I'm going through. I'm sre that in the next couple of weeks things will get better as things start miving forwad and we know how bad it is and what we need to do about it.
Again, thanks guys. Really, thank you.

Give your mom your time and attention. Let her know your concerns and ask her to keep you in the loop about her health issues because you want her to be around for a long time. I'm 46, my mother is quite old and frail and I blubbered like a baby a few weeks back when we thought she'd had a heart attack. Thank God it wasn't and she's doing well now. So no problems man we understand your plight.

My mom has Pulmonary Fibrosis 😭. I know what you are going through. It's not easy to deal. Just push through man you'll make it.

Aww sorry for ur mommy. Its an awful feeling when a family member is ill.
My uncle had chrons. It can definitely become managable with time. Just tell her to be strong.
-
Chrons sucks, I've met quite a few people in my time that have suffered various levels of it. But it's manageable and it sounds like your moms a fighter so she will pull through just fine.
-
Glad u could say it somewhere. I'm sorry, I can understand how you feel. And luckily, it is something that can be helped.
-
I hope that things get better for you and your family.
-
Hope your mom gets better. Although I don't know what Chrons really is Ill be praying for her.
-
Totally normal that you worry! You care about your mom!
Imo it would be strange if you didn't.
GL with everything. -
I really hope your mum gets better soon. My prayers are with you.🙏
