For any of you supervisors out there.........have u ever worried about a disgruntled employee doing you harm? This happened today at a competitors business of mine today. Very sad. Employee shot supervisor 5 times and is now in critical condition. Please pray for this man. 🙏

On a couple occassions this has happened where I worked. I had to let a couple people go who were cooks or bartenders. Several were not too happy about it and threatened me. Nothing ever came of it, but I watched my back for a couple weeks.

This is why getting them their breaks is very important.

I have never been in that serious of a situation, however I had sent employees home because of various reasons. They often leave cursing me left and right. Sending good vibes to the way of those affected

I haven't been threatened yet. I hate having to let someone go. I consider my employees my most valuable asset. We do our best to work with them ie find them a different job if their job has been eliminated, adjust working hours, drug / alcohol rehab, a little time off to consider their options. It's a bummer when we have no choice but it happens. My prayers go out to him and his family.

This is very unfortunate, I hope he recovers and wish justice to be brought to active shooters the world over.

I've been a manager for over thirty years and I guess it's always in the back of your mind. But my job is my job. If I have to fire someone I fire them. I just hope for the best. I'm not going to ever avoid firing someone because I'm scared of them.

I worked as a manager in a security company quite a few years back. Fired one guy, who we knew was 'not all there', and ended up having to call the cops on him because he freaked out and refused to leave. A few days later, he left a very threatening (and disturbing) letter at the office for me, written in red paint. It said the next one would be written in my blood. Ended up having to get a restraining order. A few months later, I ran into his ex-wife, and she said he had been committed (against his will) to a psych hospital. Scary shit.

Several years ago, I fired an employee for fraud, as she left she keyed the car of another manager that was on site. Had to have her arrested and she paid $6k o have the car repaired (the key mark was around the entire car and deep).
Thoughts and prayers go out to the supervisor who was harmed.

You just never know how people will react.

Damn, that's sad bro!! Much love and prayers to the victim. I've been in situations on the job site before where I've had to fire someone and they've gotten violent. Financial pressures can drive people to do stupid stuff. It's a scary situation, one I try to avoid.

I have fire 100s of folks. Cops, firefighters, teachers, you name it. Been threatened many times too. I've learned that the ones that threaten you aren't really a threat. It's the quite ones that you gotta worry about. Oh, and postal workers.📫+🔫=💀

Every time I've ever fired someone I made a point to spend some time with them first talking with them. Usually I've been able to get them to understand that the weren't a good fit for the job or company before I have to go Trump on them. It's a respectful way of doing things, and respect earns respect.
I did have the cops sitting in the parking lot across the street once. I didn't know how this one guy would react. didn't need the cops, but thought about calling them at one point...
