AIDS cure?
Forums › General Discussion › AIDS cure?-
However I do believe us curing aids would only cause the virus to mutate further and maybe even cause more damage in the long run. Most of you are thinking short term, but big picture is that as we find cures we create immunities. Like too much penicillin causes you not become immune to it and it has no effect on the virus it trying to fight. We are trying to play "god" by curing every disease and that's not what nature has in store for us. In no way am I saying there is a god FYI. ;)

It's great if they have found a cure! No one have to worry about overpopulation cause the world will deal with that like it always did. New diseases will come and go. If the earth wants to get rid of us, it will take care of it. We are just a hair on the timeline of the earth's existence. The earth can take care of itself. Now let's hope they find a cure for cancer.

First, the "cure" that helped this man was in 1% of the population of Northern Europe. They have a genetic mutation that leaves off a cell receptor that allows the AIDS virus into the cell. As a result, they can't get infected.
Second, the leukemia is often treated and cured with a bone marrow transplant. That is how this gentleman got the genetic mutation that has apparently rendered him resistant to the AIDS virus. -
Third, curing AIDS isn't going to suddenly cause over population because there are some really horrible diseases out there already that we have very little treatment for. Cancers are a good example. While some are quite easy to treat, others (pancreatic for example) have a horrible survival rate. Also consider superbugs (Acinetobacter is particularly scary) that are resistant to the current antibiotics. These superbugs are of the general populations creation. They occur when someone takes some of the antibiotic prescribed and when they feel better they stop taking their meds. The bacteria isn't completely eliminated and then it comes back with a mutation that is slightly more resistant to the antibiotic. Since the generation of bacteria lasts a few minutes, they become resistant relatively quickly. These infections aren't going to get any nicer either

Yeah I agree and disagree the overpopulation yes the not handing out no but on another thought scientist have made drug for anti aging and that would really screw shit up that's when your having a overpopulation problemWell u can agree or disagree on my view, and I'd love to hear it view on how I see it, I agree aids and leukemia are horrible, and yes I'd love it to be ended. But have u noticed the population, if we cure those diseases, and the birth rate maintains or even grows, we'll have an overpopulation problem, and that would effect everyone.

Okay guys, if that scenario really happens we've gotta be prepared. All surviving Turf Wars players should gather in one place to form a defense. And then let me hide in the middle so I don't get dead. 😊😏⚡ϮђɛƦɛʂîʂϮąɳƈɛ⚡ wrote:

This is all a very long way off into the future. A positive step without doubt. 👍
Don't hold out hope of seeing mass trials of anything for at least a decade.

Overpopulation is mostly a food shortage problem. I read an article somewhere about vertical farms, where they build a skyscraper with a different kind of farm on each level, that can be built right in any city. If I remember correctly, they were zoning for one of these in Chicago. So there are other solutions to overcrowding than just letting people die from AIDS.

Population control is BS there are plenty of un and under populated areas all over the world. Develop in these areas and it can grow the economy in said area as well and we all benefit.
Now on AIDS/HIV... I believe there has been a cure for sometime and there is tons of underhanded back door deals keeping it from being released because there is too much power and money to be made in keeping it "uncureable". On top of that, I believe it was a systhesized disease syndrome or whatever the correct term is, therefore the cure is more than possible it exists.

There's been a cure for AIDS for several years, it's just that the price tag is exorbitant, and it is only available in a handful of places.Assuming this is true, and there IS a cure, I think it will be a nightmare dispersing the cure all over the world. Another thought, how much would it cost to be 'cured'?
