Just looked up my text books for this fall semester and it is almost $900 for four classes! Most I've spent so far.

That's not terrible. I was spending $700-800 a semester but had friends spending well over 1k a semester. Gets ridiculous but renting books helps and try chegg.com to rent from online, that will cut costs dramatically.

I'm in the textbook market with some language software I authored. I love it! A guaranteed income every semester. I can charge whatever I want and you gotta pay. (just kidding)

You can rent textbooks as well, which would save you some money.

Renting a book? 😳 I could never have done that. I used to highlight the heck out of mine, make notes in them, underline things, etc.You can rent textbooks as well, which would save you some money.
My best textbooks are from high school. We had to buy them (private school). My friends & I wrote notes to each other in them. I wrote whatever I was thinking about, doodled in them, etc. The 2 most interesting ones are from my sophomore year - Chemistry & History. Every so often I look through them & get a good laugh.

Talk to your friends who just took the classes. Ask to borrow theirs or rent it from them. You could also look online for cheaper version. $900 is outrageous! 😱

Mystery I totally see what you're saying. The person I know that does this does buy one now and then but mostly rents. Just an option.

If its a new edition but used from amazon and then sell it at the end of the semester. Typically I loose about$25 a book doing that. Not bad at all.
If its an older edition that you think may be updated then renting is the way to go.
If you can get a free ebook then do it, but I have never been able to find the books I need that way.
Books really aren't that bad if you're careful and smart about how you buy.

Ebay international editions or just dont get them... Especially if undergrad most arent useful

See if ur school has them on reserve in the library. U can save a lot of money by just renting them from the school library when u need them. I've gotten through the last two semesters only buying 2 books and I take 5 classes a semester. Cutting down to 2 books out of a required 10+ books saves you a lot of $$!! Good luck!
