It's a number of things.

My processors theorize the possibility of underground explosions from oil wells igniting. I am most probably wrong.

Nah mate, the nearest airstrip is Newcastle airport, around 25 miles away. We ain't on an approach to any of the runways either. The only planes coming over us are either at high altitude or the police chopper.

I heard it!.....I f..ing heard it!! 10:10pm over Bradford UK,sounded like a jet over head and lasted a good 10 minutes with nothing above...WTF!?
Anyone found out what it is?

I heard a similar sound today around 11am EST here on Long Island at the park with my kids. Sounded like a cross between a large airplane opening up full throttle and a building collapsing, lasted about 30 seconds. I actually had a little bit of adrenalin kick in when i heard it.

Yeah I we had some strange noises recently and the papers said it was a mini earthquake but nothing had been verified but others say there was no sesmic activity! I'm in uk too

Had a few explosion sounds in the sky in Portland, Or today.
