What do you want to do with programming? (make game, make word processing app, etc.)

To start, the first book you should read is: Beginning Programming for Dummies they might have it at your local library, or you can buy it on eBay for $10 from there, you should then read books specifies to the program you choose, and watch YouTube videos specified to the language you want to use. You can also go on google and search "MIT computer science coarses" or something along those lines. It is free stuff to help you. I will also help you choose which language to use.

Go to Ollie's. They have all the Dummies books for like $6. I have a shelf full of them. While I've got you guys here, I'm looking to make a game to play the old Star Wars CCG from Decipher. Not like Holotable, I want my game to handle all the rules and stuff. Anyone interested?

I write web code. In some ways it's as hard If not more than true programming but I love it and respect to everyone out there programming it's all love.

I really enjoyed them to be honest.
I never got the hang with php.
But like I mentioned, I did not have the time to carry on scripting. :-(

Can anyone tell me where to start? I want to make a game and have no idea where to start.

If you're talking a mobile game, learn JavaScript. You can have it on iOS, Android, WindowsMobile, Blackberry, and on the web in just one language and you will know most of what you need for making websites too.

It's def the most beneficial route to take.

Better than learning different languages for each platform.
