The hardest conversation of my life
Forums โบ General Discussion โบ The hardest conversation of my life-
Well, my dad knows...
Took it well actually (I think).
He accepts it's what I want, but doesn't fully understand I have to do this (to whatever end)
He worries I'll be discriminated against (duh!), and thinks I'd look stupid in a dress (well everyone's a critic)
We agreed on androgynous clothing (jeans, trousers) and he doesn't want my sisters to know (fair enough)
But, he may not be entirely happy, at least he knows when he finds my knickers and bras in the wash ๐
I'll wait now for the shock to wear off, I'll probably get a backlash in a few days. Still the secret's out and it will be (somewhat) easier from here on.
-
Well at least you told him. Good luck lol. I'd think It be best to let the shock settle before he sees you in a dress lol

I said if he wanted to speak to me about it once the shock has worn off he is welcome to do so. I think it'll be me doing the talking first though.

Glad to hear he took it well! I hope you continue to enjoy your 'new' life, Bronwyn ๐

He's the only person in the world who could have stopped me.To be honest, I really could care less how anyone feels about your choice except you, Swag. If you are cool with it and believe you have found a path to your own happiness, then so am I.๐
I was terrified he'd throw me out of the house of something stupid. It seems (at present) that isn't going to happen.
-
Much respect Swags for facing your fears. Often in our heads we can make something bigger than it is. I'm glad your dad was able to accept it. How old are your sisters that they are not to know?

Not yet...Wait, swag got a sex change?
I've accepted I'm transgender, I'll bump my other post.

Youngest sister is 31, then 40 and 44. The oldest will be a problem...
In any case as part of my ground rules with dad, I won't be telling them until it gets more serious.

Good for you swag. I know that must have been a scary convo to have. Kudos on being brave enough to do it. Glad to hear your dad didn't freak out on you. Now to put one foot in front of the other. Things'll sort themselves out. ๐

Counselling on Friday, BTW. Dontcha just love working for the NHS!

Counselors are sneaky :PIf you need proof of support, just send them to TW, we'll beat them up for ya ;)

Well done swaggs!

Didn't see this post before I posted in the other.
Still stands, if you want to talk...
Still really happy and proud of you. ๐

Can imagine this was the biggest hurdle on the road. Good that you took it and the outcome of the conversation is far from negative!
You go girl! ๐ -
Are you scared about chopping "It" off? or is it like a burden to you? Whatever the case, good on ya for being who you want to be, and I'm sure you put a lot of thought into the decision.
-
Counselling involves talking about it, but also giving me advice. Groups to seek out, things to do.
I was there a few years ago when I had a breakdown, and it helped then.
Thanks Capt' Satan ๐
And as for losing "it", when wearing tight women's jeans you have to tuck it in tight knickers to hide it, so getting rid doesn't bother me.
I'd just prefer to be the real me ๐
Finally, the morning after the night before...
Dad still seems OK, we chatted at breakfast as normal. I'll probably bring the subject up again if he doesn't in a few days, just to make sure. But, all in all, I'm happy๐

Firstly, Congratulations. You are open to yourself and now your father. It will get easier every time you talk about it face to face with someone.
I don't understand the whole transgender thing but when I don't understand something I seek out a greater understanding and don't take the road of fear or hate. I loved the movie Transamerica and have watch some reality TV shows about the trans female doctor from Washington that does the final surgeries in Colorado. It seems to be a very supportive group. Remember to lean on them when you have a question or need support.
Congratulations again and good luck as you decide what your future holds.

Shoot me down as much as you want but is this really the place for this conversation?
The topic is a bit specialised ain't it, surely there are dedicated websites for this, ones where kids wouldn't be using it.
Fair play for fronting it swagger I take my hat off to ya and wish you all the best in your new future, but seriously does it need to be shared with us. If you want to tell everyone and look for support why not go on the Jeremy Kyle show. I've heard you get for it too, so you could get some new clothes or summit

Perhaps that says more about the TW community than you realise.

All power to you mate :-)
Now you cn start the rest of your life -
Good for you swagg, you go girl! It must have been hard for you to talk with your dad!
I have a friend who lives and works in Blackpool who went through the same transgender situation but when when he told his dad, his da freaked and threw him out (ended up living with friends!). But now after counselling, the surgery and living as a woman for 16/17 years she's proudly walking tall (in very sharp 5 inch stilletto's lol!!) -
I also have a 14 year old nephew who's going through the same as you......in fact she's havin the hormone treatment now and the surgery is next year. I think that might be a little bit early, but I'm there for her in which ever capacity to help and to listen! So if you're wanting to talk about it, please don't bottle it up inside, just give me a shout and I'll be there to listen!!!!
-
Wait so you want to be a girl, well I'll support you!
