The bible is just rules to live by and something to believe in, why should we think that they can predict it whenever barely anyone even heard of "space" back then...

Religion and science. Two topics I wish could go together well but almost always leads to arguements. Hard to stay calm with so many counter-arguements they have.

Because people did in fact predict astronomical events and mapped the stars, during biblical times as well as far earlier than that. Whole civilizations revolved their culture and mythologies around celestial occurrences. There are countless examples of why we should think ancients could predict, at least, things like seasonal changes, lunar cycles, time, orbits, etc.The bible is just rules to live by and something to believe in, why should we think that they can predict it whenever barely anyone even heard of "space" back then...

Yes, I totally forgot about that. Good point and the best example I can think of is the mayans. They could tell astronomical objects with their naked eyes almost as good as modern astronomers.mr. Buttwipe wrote:

But Im also not saying believe them solely on what they can predict. I'm just saying they were very advanced in astronomy and mapping universal patterns. We just lost most of the history of what the Mayans knew due to the Spanish invading and burning all but three Mayan codexes. I mean try explaining the civilization we live in to a person in the future. But it has to only be explained in three books. Not possible. Not to mention the Mayans weren't counting on which books survived the lost. They might not even mention their most important achievements.

Yes butnit seems many keep science and religion separate. Some of the most advanced civilizations based their religions and possible denominations of their religions around Astronomy based objects such as the moon, sun, celestial events and so on.But Im also not saying believe them solely on what they can predict. Personal sheer faith driven beliefs shouldn't hinder scientific advancement.
-You believe in the bible. Fine.
-Attempting to discourage people from learning about the discovery of evolution because it doesn't match your Bible is wrong, and a serious problem. Why can't religion change with new scientific discoveries and events instead of dening new information?

I honestly can't say for sure. So many types of beliefs on so many levels that it is hard to point of out and I also am not one of those people so I can't speak for them.Personal sheer faith driven beliefs shouldn't hinder scientific advancement.

Oh I thought you may have had an inside insight. I don't either. I'm a Gnostic and Quasi spiritualist more than anything. But I don't let those faith beliefs trump physical proof or solutions. I just tweak my beliefs based on what new info I've acquired.GreenManxphile wrote:

It's not that I want Humankind to fail. And it may sound selfish to say it like this, but I figure if it is going to happen, it would be bad ass to exist right up until the end of our species. To get to see the last moments of our accomplishments. To be part of the last of human history, would be epic beyond almost anyone else's existence.@ Ƒızzøƞɛ ~ 🅱🅾🅰 Why would you want mankind to come to an end in your lifetime? I guess you don't have kids?!
@ Ba Roon von Fuckwit, if your gonna be an annoying tool on the forum, at least put out some turf for the normal people to flatten, yeah?

Moron, the earth has not been around for 7000 years. It just hasn't. Ok there goes your theory, see I even explained my work 😋Azzurrini wrote:
Really? Do you truly believe that? "Science" began telling us that the the world was over 500,000,000 years-old...Then they reduced it to 100,000,000 because their methods of carbon dating were flawed, they have continued to reduce that number to where it is at a mere 7,000. Science is a flawed practice because humans are involved in it. Humans have been a flawed race..Since the beginning of time.MARVLAS wrote:
Which I do. Science is proven fact.Bible says its coming like a thief in the night...which means no warning...just be prepared. Unless u believe science has all the answers!
