Let your child (16+) travel alone within the states via air?
-
Uh yeah. I've been flying all my life.

I think it would depend on the child.

Yes, if a relative or close friend is meeting them at the other airport.

There's a program at my top choice university for high school senior girls... And I just got accepted into it. The school will pay for most of my travel expenses, someone will meet me at the airport, and the program is only 3 days long. However, I've never flown alone before and I have yet to visit the university. Does that warrant a parental escort?

Idk if it depends on the state. But I flew from Texas to Cali and back all my life. At 12 I didn't even need flight attendance assistance. It's not scary. You can ask anyone where to go. It's all good. You will be fine👍There's a program at my top choice university for high school senior girls... And I just got accepted into it. Yeah. I've been flying solo since I was 10.

I made a trip to Italy by myself and I was fine. (17 though)

Yes, my daughter flew solo when in 6th grade (age 12) coast to coast. She even had a plane change in ohare. Airline services escorted her gate to gate and we dropped her off on one side and she was picked up by her hosts at the other side as she deplaned.
She's 17 now and the experience (and others like it) have help make her very mature and trustworthy. It took a lot of prep in calling the airline and she had flown with me a few times before. I would not just hand someone a ticket and point them to TSA line...

Um not untill theyre 18 cuz there are some strange people out there 😁

Anyway, as you already said, it depends on the kid, but in my opinion, 14 is a good starter age. -
Sure! It's not like they're going to escape anywhere 😏

My parents let me fly alone when i was 8. And i usually fly alone when I'm going somewhere.

I've been flying from Indy to Vegas since I was 15 and I've been through many airports, as long they follow the signs on where to to, they should be fine
