This may not be the kind of thing you're looking for, but Johnathan Strange and Mr. Norrel is a fantastic book. It's sort of an alternate history set during the french-british war in the 1700s, with magic holding an important place. It's very long, and the plot is a little complicated, but nevertheless it's one of the greatest books I've read.

So true this. Thomas Hardy's The Mayor of Casterbridge is a favourite. For a complete collection I would suggest some old English such as Jane Austen. No collection is complete without! 📖👀👍

Les Miserables by Victor HugoSo I'm in the process of settling into a new place with a massive amount of book shelve space. To fill that space I am in the market for rare books/grimores/novels/binders/texts to fill the remaining shelve space.
That's why I'm making the thread! I hope some of you could suggest some books for me to add to the collection. At the end I'm gonna take pics and post them on palringo to show whose suggestions I fancied!

I'm actually reading the original James Bond novels by Ian Fleming right now and would recommend them. I saw early in the thread you had asked for CIA or military books. Well, these aren't exactly that, but they are set in the 50's, so it's set in the post World War II, cold war era. Good reads. And Bond's misogynistic thoughts are pretty funny to read (not that I support misogyny).
