I just bought a bike!
Forums › General Discussion › I just bought a bike!-
So I just bought a GSX-R 600. I took the rider's edge class at Harley and have been riding for abt a week. I've put abt 500miles on it. Time to clean and relube the chain.
I was wondering who else rides and where can I find cheap bike stuff? Stuff like a passenger seat, a stand for the back tire, some water proof speaker maybe? I looked online and everything is a lot more than I thought it would be. I'm just trying to make sure I'm looking in the right places to make sure I'm not spending top dollar on something I can get cheaper somewhere else.

Go to a bike club. Wait till very one goes inside. See a bike, pick it up onto your truck bed.... Go home.... Instant parts.

Good choice on a bike. GSXRs are great tuning bikes. I ride a 2000 CBR 929 myself. Might be trading my car for a CBR 600F4i tomorrow and use that for tuning

That's a pretty quick little crotch rocket. Not what I'd recommend as a starter bike. The first thing you should buy is a good full face helmet and some Kevlar gear.
-
I don't own a bike, but the only bike I have ever ridden was a Ducati diavel. 😍😍😍
I loved that thing. I was beyond
mad when my uncle sold it. -

I know right lol it was a good deal I couldn't turn away. An 07 GSX-R 600 with 4,000 miles on it. Only 5 thousand ones 😄 I do have to get riding gear though. It expensive! But prob well worth it. Anywhere you know I can get some stuff at discount or anything? That's a pretty quick little crotch rocket. Not what I'd recommend as a starter bike. Yup. Power Commander III is the quickest way to get some extra HP out of your bike. Racing sprockets can help. Stretching and lowering it gives it a cool factor, as do LEDs, an alarm system, and a tag flipper (my personal suggestion)✭J⌖и Λl͟l͟e͞и✭ wrote:

I'd check out eBay for non-mechanical stuff. But you need to do some research before hitting that buy button. I bet more people remove the passenger seat than install them. 😃 might get a good deal on that.

Oh sweet! I just got a Schwinn tandem bike! Its got 3 gears, and an awesome bell.

I want to eventually do cool stuff to it but I need to get the basics down first. I saw some YouTube videos on the led lights and some sound systems and thought that would be awesome to add. I was thinking abt using this bike as my learning bike then maybe next yr buy a more powerful one and do all those cool upgrade things. I hear you want more power after a little while.

Man I've been looking for a deal. My GF has been killing me to take her for a ride. I can't find a back seat for cheaper than $60 after shipping. I would have though a back seat would of been like 20 ones or something. That's why I want to make sure I'm looking in the right places. I checked eBay and amazon along with others but they were the ones with the lowest prices. And yea I'm working on the whole research thing. Learning as I go

Yea, that's why you almost never want to start on a 250, unless if you have never even ridden a bicycle before. But yea, LEDs are a quick, cheap and easy way to make it look better. What are the colors?
-
It's all stock and it's Blue, White and Red. It has the stock Blue rims on it. Any recommendations on a particular brand of LEDs?
-
$60 sounds about right for a seat that actually fits on that bike. Anything at $20 will be a generic pad that will need work to make it fit, probably look like crap, and will last one season.
I have an 84 Goldwing, last of the standard models. (no fairing or trunk) I bought a passenger pad for it at about $20. But it's just for looks, no one ever sits on it. I have a sidecar.
-
I bet you have radio, a/c and all kinds of comfortable features on that thing. I didn't know what it was so I looked it up. Looks like a comfortable bike to take on long trips. And 84' has to have some history to it. Nice rides I bet

No it's bare bones. The 84 is the last year they sold "naked" Goldwings. I also removed the long seat and added a sprung solo seat. Replaced the rear fender. It does have some leather saddle bags.I bet you have radio, a/c and all kinds of comfortable features on that thing. I didn't know what it was so I looked it up. I also have a Volkswagen trike. That's a blast!! Sounds like a Messerschmitt. Wheelies forever. :)

Just a tip here. Don't do anything to your bike until you've put about 20k on it. First, you'll want to get a different bike after you get some experience and figure out what you'd like better. This might not happen but it's very probable. 99% of riders don't keep their first bike for a really long time if they ride a lot. Second, if you're new to riding, you do not have the skills to even think about tuning your bike for more performance. Be careful man. Like they say, there are two types of riders. Those who have wrecked and those who haven't wrecked, yet.

I ride a bike 2 it has 4 gears and is blue and black got it cheep only 200

I have a 2010 R1. They're not the cheapest places, but good products. Bikebandit.com and Dennis Kirk. I've order from cheaper places and didn't get the quality I wanted.

I've owned a few crotch rockets got alot of parts from eBay. They ship straight from china and are usually less then half the price then if you buy them here. Usually can get free shipping too.

The motorcycle section of Craigslist also is a good source for cycle parts.👍

Congratz A! Welcome to the best club in the world. I'm in th UK and I ride all year round. In my opinion the best mod you can get for any sports bike is to change the gearing. Forget the crap - no one needs 150+ mph. Change you front sprocket down by 1 tooth or up the rear by 2 or 3. It will give u improved perf without having to mess with fueling / cans etc. I have a Ducati 848 (because life is not a rehearsal), a Triumph Daytona 675 because it is awesome, and a Kawasaki Versys 650 because sometimes it rains in the Uk and practicality wins on those days. If you can, do some advanced rider training rather than waste money on noisy pipes!! Respect fella! 👍😊
