Medium rare- 5-6 min one side, 4 min the other side... If your pan frying, a bit of oil heated to sear it. Then on the last two min after the flip add some butter and put the mixture over the side not frying. Always have the steak room temp before cooking for evenness. Take a paper towel prior seasoning and make sure the steak is dry on the outside for a better sear. Salt after cooked not prior because it draws the juices to the surface. Pepper and season before letting the steak get to room temp. Booooooom! Perfect steak..

And always let it rest like 5 min after cooking to redistribute the juices in the steak :)

Did someone really say they put ketchup on a steak??? And I thought a1 ruined a steak.
A good steak starts the morning before grilling with a good marinade. Allegro from the grocery store is pretty good, but a soy bourbon sause with some brown sugar and a little orange zest can't be beat. For a quick prep, just spread some good sea salt (there is flavored salts) on the meat and grill.
Get a good thick cut, marinade it for 8 hours, crank the grill up to 600 and cut the heat. That'll sear the outside real nice and slowly cook the rest until its a nice medium rare. Spread a little of the marinade on the meat right after flipping it.

Well cooked and smothered in tomato sauce, or butter. Or by itself. Or medium raw with the aforementioned toppings. Or dripping blood.

Medium Rare or at most Medium!! I like my steaks nice and juicy. Anything more than that and it kills the flavor!!!!! Damn I think I'm gonna get me a steak for lunch today.... 🍛🍴😏 I is Hungry!!!

Actually did this yesterday:
Season it with sea salt and loads of freshly grinded pepper.
In the pan 1 min each side in butter and a bit of olive oil, then 15 mins in the oven (160 celcius), then let it rest in closed aluminium foil for 10 mins.
Nomnomnomnom... Perfect medium steak! -
Medium rare. Montreal steak seasoning. Sear it quickly on one side to lock in the juices, grill 2 minutes, then flip, sear the juice in, and grill for a minute and a half. Best steak you will ever have.

I personally feel, if you go past a medium cooked steak your ruining it. I don't like chewing on rubber.
