Anyone mechanically experienced with cars?

The battery light on my car is flashing all the time when I turn the car on. But my car continues to work. I'm just afraid that it could mean something wrong may happen.
-
Bad battery cable connection! It continues to run probably because its not gone completely bad, but when it does if the car is running it will work the alternator so hard that it too will go bad!
-
I would say you need to charge your battery or get a new one before this one stops working and you cant turn on your car any more
-
My battery is still new-ish. I've only had it for about 6 months. But if it's the connection like you say, how do I fix that? I'm only 19, so I haven't had much experience with cars.
-
Turn your ignition on, but not your engine, turn on your radio and put it up loud, if it starts to fade then its either a faulty connection, duff battery, or an alternator issue. If the sound stays constant for a few minutes, its probably a fault at the actual warning light. It could also be a warning for something else, especially if its flashing. What kind of car is it?
-
Sounds like a bad connection at battery or alternator is starting to die , what kind of vehicle is it ? And if you have beat in the trunk the alternator may not have amperage for the sound system
-
It's a 95 mercury sable.
-
On that there is a little grey wire that plugs into the alternator if it's loose the light will flicker
-
Cool. Whenever it stops raining for once, I'll check it. Thanks for the help.(:
-
No problem , if any more questions just leave me a message

I'm in the uk, so we don't have mercurys, but I does sound like an alternator or alternator connection problem.
If you have any kind of voltmeter its easy to check the charging rate, just start it up, turn on lights and heater blower, check voltage at battery, should be 14v+ at fast idle(1500rpm)
If you need anything else post here. -

It's hard to say really without a better description of what else happens. But like hotrod said, sounds like an alternator to me. I just replaced mine awhile back. Battery light came on for awhile before the alternator finally crapped out.
-
Not sure how to do the whole re-quote thing. But the warranty to the battery, I don't think so. And by what all of y'all say, y'all all agree it may be the alternator. There's not much else that goes wrong with it. It just comes on, and flickers, or stays lit. Then sometimes it's not on at all for a bit.

You guys are good heres a good question for u... My 2001 dodge ram 1500, won't start when it's raining,

Again not a model I'm familiar with, but I agree with hodrodtech and grimm. If it is a cap and rotor system, not the later coil on plug type, take the distributor cap off and look inside for any hairline cracks. Check the cap and rotor for burnt contacts and replace if it looks too crappy in there. You guys are good heres a good question for u... My 2001 dodge ram 1500, won't start when it's raining,
Don't forget WD40 is your friend and one of the most important tools in your toolbox. -

You need 3 things for ignition. Air- Spark (electricity)- Fuel. You guys are good heres a good question for u... My 2001 dodge ram 1500, won't start when it's raining,
Due to your rain description, we can rule out air and fuel. Rain would not take away your cars ability to put air into the mixture. And if you are getting water in the fuel tank then you have an issue all the time raining or not.
So start looking for something electrical. We all know that electrical stuff and water arnt the best of friends. Without more info its hard to tell you exactly what's wrong but this is what I know for sure (assuming the starter motor is operational). The rain water is preventing the electricity from getting to the spark plugs. So in looking for the culprit I would start at the battery terminals and go forward. Hope this helps! -
