Since this JB is cloud-based, it depends on the servers load and network speed. I did mine over 3G and it took no more than 7 minutes.

Well the jailbreak is hosted on modmyi's servers. Modmyi is one of the biggest iPhone/apple communities out there, and there members from all over. I'm sure they have severs all over the world.

I upgraded from 3.1.3 jb to 4.0.1 and jb right away. Definitely seeing some performance issues. Anyone have any performance problems when they went from 3.1.3 to 4.0 on a 3GS? I can't imagine it being the jb as I never had problems before.

It's just 4.0.
Many people are noticing speed issues with 4.0 on all devices besides the iPhone 4. Ios4 was designed for the iPhone 4. All other devices have cut down versions, but they still weren't primarily thought of.
That being said, the 3GS is a fast device. It can't be the jailbreak though, because all the jailbreak does alone is give root access to the filesystem and install a new application. If you install a ton of applications that change things in the system or run in the background you will slow it down obviously. But the jailbreak alone does nothing to speed. -
Yeah but I have jailbreaked several versions and all ran slower. It even says that it runs slower on nearly all forums.

Yeah that's because once you install stuff it actually does slow it down haha.
It just can't make it slower, there's nothing that changes the speed on a FRESH jailbreak. But a customized one of course. -

Previous jailbreaks have installed multi tasking and wall papers (I have 3G) but this one didn't. How can I get these things? Or will I have to restore and jb again with red snow or something?

it worked for my iphone 4 thank you very much

I don't believe there is a way to. You need to edit a core system file that can only be changed before pre-flashing (jailbreaking).
You can install backgrounder and winterboard though which do the same things.
(Unless you use redsnow again which is still fine to do) -
guys about it being slow mine seems to b very fast u could say instant i just cant belive it let me do it straight from my phone any1 no if i can get flash player
-
So from what I have red no performance issues on the i4?

Yes and no.
The best way to understand it is that the jailbreak doesn't slow anything down. But the addons that you can install do.
So on 3.1.3 let's say that the system uses 100mb. You install winterboard. Now it uses 110mb.
Since 4.0 is more complex, let's say that it uses 125mb of ram. Now you install winterboard, and no we're up to 135mb.
Since you went to a higher OS, you're using more memory off of the bat. The memory you're using increases but the actual hardware memory doesn't so it will slow down.
But with a clean jailbreak it will not slow it down at all. Just be careful with how crazy you get into customizations. -
Is there anything you can download after JB to get free music like a free iTunes or something?

Check out dTunes in cydia. You can't actually add the music to your device's library but you can still download and play.

So If i were to JB my iPhone 4.......
Can I revert back to non JB status? If so how?
Can I still sync my phone on Itunes?
Are there any restrictions regarding Apple. Meaning can I still use the App store, Itunes, etc.?
And I assume that updating the os is not a good idea when jailbroken, so if syncing is ok I probably need to make sure any auto update options are off. Right?
Sory for all the JB noob questions lol

It's fine, it's what I do haha.
1. Yes, you can just plug it into iTunes and hit restore. It'll restore back to a non-JB state.
2. Yes syncing is totally normal.
3. There shouldn't be an autoupdate option for the device's firmware. It'll always pop up and confirm that you want to upgrade. If you do, you won't be jailbroken. If you want to keep your jailbreak, you'll have to wait till they release a new one (usually no more than a week or so). -
Ok last question before I slide the bar lol. They say Jail breaking voids your warranty. But if I were to restore the phone, assuming I'ts not broken to the point that it wont turn on, would apple still know it was Jailbroken previously? In other words as long as I can restore the phone can I bring it to apple if a speaker or one of the jacks fail? Although I guess I couldnt restore it if the 30 pin jack was the thing thats broken........ hmmmmm

Yes you're correct, you could just restore it. And if it's broken beyond that they would never know.
I really doubt the USB connector would break, and if it did there's ways to make it appear un-jailbroken. All you need to do is uninstall all your customizations and remove cydia. -
Well here goes nothing.......**Crosses Fingers**

Haha good luck! Let me know if you need any help or if anything happens.
Or even for some cool app/mod suggestions. -
Done deal......
Only problems were, before restart the home button didn't work properly. now its fine.
And opening the cydia app led to a black screen if I didn't choose the interface right away. But seems to be fine now.
Now I have to play with it and see what I can do, Hmmm where is that wifi tethering app lol

-MxTube (download YouTube videos)
I'll think of more and post them later. -
Cydia has been really slow. Rock is much faster. (search RockApp in cydia)
