Coffee shop pet peeve
Forums › General Discussion › Coffee shop pet peeve-
When I walk into a coffee shop, knowing full well I am paying through the nose for a cup of coffee, I expect a certain level of service. I place my order, coffee with cream, and most of the time, I am deferred away from the counter to add my own cream. All the ingredients (coffee & half and half) are right behind the counter. I see employees spend minutes making these sugary, frozen coffee disasters, while I just want a quick shot of cream in my coffee. This bugs me to no end! If they add creamer, I tip $1, otherwise nothing. Have I lost my marbles? Why won't they just give me a shot of cream at the counter? It's automatic at all the drive throughs..

Lol this is a great rant. But I agree!

I disagree. I'm very particular about the level of cream used. I'd prefer to do it myself to get it to that perfect amount. I tip $1+ regardless.
-
It bugs me when people get the cheapest shit on the menu then want me to do their own cream and sugar. Want a cheaper cup, go to the gas station. Those sugary frozen drinks are $5 a pop buddy.
-
Leave an additional $2-3 tip and I'll drink it for you too👍

It just so happens, that the cheapest coffee tastes the best. I don't care for sugary drinks. Price is not a factor, I won't drink the expensive stuff even if it's free! I don't drink gas station and fast food coffee because it tastes like poison. It bugs me when people get the cheapest shit on the menu then want me to do their own cream and sugar. Just stop putting milk in your coffee. Do you know where that stuff comes from? :)

I would tip a dollar, but for my small coffee, that works out to almost a 50% tip. And they're not even that friendly.
I bought a kureg. I don't deal with that crap anymore.

50% is hefty, I just don't like tipping with change. Maybe I should buy a Keurig and bring it along with my power inverter in the car. ;)I would tip a dollar, but for my small coffee, that works out to almost a 50% tip. And they're not even that friendly.

The tips add about $1 an hour for me. It's the difference between 10.20 and 11.20 for me. They pay for my gas. I'm friendly to everyone unless your an asshole. Then I just make your drink and say "have a good day". Or if we're super busy and I don't have time to make conversation. I prefer the pour over method at home. But my boss just got a keureg (sp?) and she says it amazing.ѦMБIΞИ'Γ☢'ΓΞCH™ wrote:

At Starbucks, the tips are taxed and divided weekly among hours. So you give us a buck. I get about .05 cents of that. I appreciate all tips. It adds up. Word is, they used to make 50-60 a week on tips. Now with all the gold cards and credit cards, we're lucky to make $40. Hey, getting that every week for my has tank is good enough for me.
