Anyone know how to cure a dog that won't stop going potty in her kennel? She's 40 lb and 2 years. She's potty trained. She gets scared after she does it Cuz She knows she fucked up. She didn't do this crap as a puppy. And we've have the same sized kennel ever since. She will be really good for a few weeks, then shit every night for a few weeks. And really, the only reason I care is bc sometimes I'm gone for 10 hours and I would like for her to be able to be out in her room. Not in her kennel. Cuz her knuckls get raw. But if she keeps this up she will ruin the carpet. And I can't put anything in her kennel bc she will tear it up, or potty all over it. Any clues? Yes she's disciplined. yes we have a back yard I take her out in before bed, I don't feed her past 7. HELP?!

I've done lots of research and the only thing I can think of is get a smaller kennel!
-
Well, do you have anything under the kennel? If not you might want to consider getting something to put under it.
-
Getting a smaller kennel worked for us. But Nucka was a pup. Is it seperation anxiety?
-
You lock a dog in a kennel for 10 hours a day? Maybe that's your problem. If you can't give the animal proper attention you should get a goldfish instead.
-
Our dog has crazy bad separation anxiety and barrier issues. We can't kennel him anymore bc last time we put him in a kennel he cost me $2500 in the doggy ER. We have to muzzle him with one of those giant cones aroun his head everytime we leave the house or he'll eat everything in site. Guess it's not gonna help RaiKou just wanted to share lol

Gf and I have to close at the same time and the kid isnt there, it adds up to about 10 hours. That's like, once in a blue moon. So how about you kindly fuck off. Tell me not to have my own dog. I'll sleep in my fucking car before I get rid of my dog. I'll leave my Gd before I get rid of my dog. You sir, are silly and don't know two shits of what your speaking. I never considered superstition anxiety. It's so weird, she will do it for a week or so then be fine for a week or so. I def think her kennel is too big. and I think maybe her new bone might be making her sick. Every time I get her that kind, it seems after she eats it raw (it's part plastic) she does this. I'm
Thinking there's a connection there. -
That's definetally my thought now that you say that. When my dog eats bones ge can't hold it as long and has accidents sometimes. We had to start only giving him bones when we knew we'd be home the next day. Also a smaller kennel, only big enough for then to stand up and turn around in.

She was doing really well so I was able to leave her out in the room. Then one night she shit on the floor. I assumed it was my fault for not taking her out or whatever. But then it happened 2 more nights in a row in the exact same spot and she even peed! So I had to go back to putting her in her kennel and it got worse! Ugh. Okay I threw her bone away. And I will get a divider or something. I just don't understand why she would actually shit in the room when we all know she knows better! Someone suggested her being mad at me.I let her sleep w me as a puppy.

My bad. Didnt mean to hit a nerve. What do you expect wen you go around putting your 2cents in everyone's thread, even when you don't have any experience, or anything supportive to say. Your pessimistic and rude. And you act all high and migty. Your as opinionated as me yet you've scolded me for being so. Wow, your such a hippocrate. -

Is a dog door feasible?

Read a book, if you can't tell why she is doing it then you don't understand the dogs mentality. It's never the dogs fault, it's the owner.

But yea, maybe her Kennel is too big. By nature a dog won't crap where they sleep. And btw, I've had 3 different Vets tell me those processes raw hide chews are bad for dogs. They don't digest them all that well. And get trapped in the digestive track. I'm not sure, just what I've been told.

We have a rescue dog that HATES his crate. We only use it when we are not home and it is too hot or cold for him to stay outside. At night he slleps on his doggy bed in our room. Almost every time we crate him (10 minutes or 5 hours) he will poop or pee in his crate. Even if he has just done his business outside. We were given a few suggestions.
1- get an airline type crate, not metal. It can make them feel more secure
2- If it is separation anxiety try clomicalm. You can get it from your vet
3- take the long process and start off crating for short amounts of time when you are home... Build up that time. At the same time crate the dog and "leave" for 5 mins... Build that up slowly. Always reward and praise when you let the dog out
4- don't feed, water or give treats within 2-3 hours of a longer crate session.
Hope this works! The clomicalm helps us a little, but my dog has so many issues that he came to us with that none of the other things worked. -

And these are all good suggestions. I've already tried a few of them. This is, something new. She's always ha accidents. But the patter of on and off from not at all to every night has started in the last year. When I stopped letting her sleep with me because I moved back in with my Gf. I got her while we were separated OMFG! but she didnt do it this bad at first. And she stopped for while. I wonder now she's doing it again. I've always had to Leave her in her kennel while I was at work. Thats nothing new at all.

You could buy a new door and put the dog door in that one. Keep te old door and reinstall it before you move.СУГЦЅDAVIГЦЅ🔫💀🌄 wrote:

If you have a sliding door to the outside, they make panels that you put between the slider and the wall that have a dog door at the bottom. Then if you move you just take out the panel and no one knows anything happened.

They're not cheap but we got one online that has been a game changer for a dog situation we had.

Might check bed bath and beyond for this item too. It's called Pet Park/PetZoom. It's basically a fake grass pad for them to pee and poop on indoors, keeps everything contained and easily cleaned. This would give your pup a place indoors to go if and when they needed. Might prevent accidents and allow em to stay outside of the kennel when you are gone without ruining the floors. Hope it helps.

1. I've read horror stories about indigestible rawhide. Find a healthy alternative.
2. I'm guessing separation anxiety and just being very unhappy. Try having a dog walker come by once or twice a day. If you can't afford a professional, then hire a responsible teen for the summer.
Lots of great ideas in this thread. Good luck!
