iPod touch 2 1/2 gen 8gig. I got it when the 3rd gens came out so it's sorta 3rd gen but not really cause it doesn't have all the upgrades

First iPod was 8GB. First iPhone was 4 or 8 GB but the 4 got discontinued pretty quick.

I have the 16g 3G and also have the os4; you need a memory clearing app to speed up your phone. I use System Activity Monitor, but there is a free one called Memory Sweep. They kill all processes and close apps like mail iPod and safari which run in the background if not forced to quit. A must have for older devices with os4
