TW Thought Experiment
Forums › General Discussion › TW Thought Experiment-
Otto, ok I'm totally with you here. This is an excellent thought experiment.
I do respond rather predictably to certain stimulus, like your example of capping the protected Seattle player.
If "most" of us react predictably the majority of the time and as a dev and AI bot algorithm builder it is robust enough to throw in the right mix of randomness, then why do the other players "need" to be real?
What percentage of "real players" (human) would I need to mix in with how many AI NPC context sensitive autobots in order to achieve the "look and feel" of Nick's TW of today?
The other mind-blowing thing becomes, as a dev, wouldn't it be important to shield the "real" players from the truth of their, say, 75% artificially created player base.
Then THIS line of thinking only raises about 50 of questions in my mind.
GREAT exercise, Otto. You are my new favorite nerd-friend!!

I keep thinking back to the AGirls🔫 drama too.
The levels of "who cares-nothing is real on the interwebz" to "it's a human being on the other side, you monsters" to "mild irritation" to "rage" to "lol this is great entertainment" and all shades within that this situation raised in the community.
Why the range of responses? Why the outrage? Why is it important that the community is real? What if the community was a large % of actors? What if the community was a large % of great autobots?
Must. Stop. Brain. Overclocking.

The other thing I keep pondering is the idea of a rich virtual reality environment of the mind.Assume (pretend) that all of TW is just a highly complex computer program. That every player, turf placement, attack and even the messages and forum posts are 100% computer generated and you are the single human playing.
Now, if that were true, would any of your feelings about TW (mad when capped, happy when you read good forum news, etc.) change and if so why.
Enjoy.
In the past, I've often thought a lot about the future of 3D completely immersive visual VR systems.
What about the much cheaper earlier tech of creating a VR of the mind? How powerful is that? Omg. One then only becomes limited in providing a rich player experience by the imagination and mind of the player, theoretically.
Build the basic models. Add lots of context sensitive intelligent "flavor text" and let my mind fill in the blanks.

Lol. I'm digging it, gotta take a break as now I'm wondering who's real, who's a bot and then a nagging feeling that I'm talking to a computer right now....

I'd be amazed that some of the conversations on pal and text message were with a computer! Thatd be crazy!

Food for thought: how come and in the social networking application era,a game that bases a good percentage of it's success on it's forums and it's player profiles, don't allow posting neither profile pictures, nor anything exept text in the forums???
Is it a bandwidth issue, or it's illegal to falsely use real people's photos on fake profiles???... -
I love that some of us are trippin on this, red pill blue pill, see the lady in the red dress, she's there to distract you, prison of your own mind, wake up neo, gimme a fat juicy steak, chit.

Food for thought no2 :
What it a government-company-organization is using us all, one at a time, to experiement and extract conclusions about our behavior under different circumstances in an innocent looking (and free to download) game???... -

AI's as we think of them are really just elaborate and complex flow charts, you realize this right? It could not act independently. The player causes the 'AI' to react, and it usually won't do anything else.

Then i think computers have too many emotions and rages all the time

I would get more frusterated in a "why the hell can't I beat this level?!" type of way.
I wouldn't play it as the only way to beat the computer at that point would be to punch codes. And no, I wouldn't be as emotionally charged when someone 20xs bigger decides to cap me out entirely because I "rub them the wrong way"😢
