I recently had this problem myself. Get a few non-internet-needed apps(such as angry birds or metal storm) that will keep you occupied on the road. Bring a (big) book if your iPod runs out of battery or you get bored. If you have to stop somewhere, then make it a mall, Mcdonalds or (place not mention for Johnny O's sake).

Since you have an iPod. Print all of ICM and then memorize all the codes and practice typing each one at least 5 times. So that when you get into Internet you can punch them all within a couple hours.
