I think Canon has a better selection of lenses, but I would still go with Nikon.

Nikon has better dslrs and canon makes better point and shoots. Also Nikon is more focused on photography while canon leans more towards a video camera that takes decent photos. imo.

How do you mean "better"? If you mean a more rough-n-tumble body, a solid frame, and a drop resistant exterior, I'll say in apples-to-apples comparisons, the Nikon will always win. They do this on purpose.
It's all they have against the ergonomics and L primes of canon.

It's cheaper to make tougher bodies than better lenses.
It's also cheaper to farm out sensor design and manufacturing.
Nikon is an economic runt compared to massive Canon.

He's the sole reason I bought my Nikon. Kind of like why people buy macs, to be like Justin long.

I have a Canon Rebel T1i and shot many amazing pictures with it. I also have a canon power shot that I stopped using because it was crap. So my conclusion is you get what you pay for.
Never used a Nikon before so I can't comment on it.

Played with them both. I'm a Canon man but fully respect Nikon. Pro's and cons with them both.

Nikon. I have the AW100. When I globe trot I can plant turf/flag with the gps feature. It geo tags my photos and shows a caption of what I am looking at. When on the go, I can't be messing with lenses and filters. Just need something waterproof, shockproof, and mud proof. What is Canons answer for my lifestyle?
