Is it just me or does the TERRIBLE spelling drive you crazy as well???
It amazes me how poorly people spell these days!!!
If you can't spell, turn ON your spell check!!!!

Careful, there are medical reasons for poor spelling such as dyslexia and various brain injuries. Spelling becomes something they can't control, spell check is only as good as the user recognizing the word to accept the spelling.

Further some physical ailments such as Parkinson's lead to uncontrollable shakes which also make typing difficult.

Whilst I agree using text slang to communicate can be frustrating, I am sure I frustrate others with things I do. None are perfect, try to be understanding, treat them as you would like to be treated.

And if they treat you like shit, smack them down hard!!!

In a way I can understand where the OP is coming from. Really poor spelling and grammar used to be one of my biggest pet peeves. Then My autistic brother was born. As he grew and learned how to read and write, I've learned to be tolerant and forgiving for poor spelling and grammar. Now it doesn't bother me in the least.

I'm dyslexic , but I can tell when I make a mistake because my iPhone corrects it for me.

My daughter is dyslexic. So, I understand that illness and disability can be reasons for poor spelling. But those are not the ones I am talking about. There are plenty of people on here with no excuse (other than lack of trying/caring) for their poor spelling. Those are the ones I am talking about.

Sky-this post was not directed at you in any way. As I said, I understand some have legitimate reasons for their spelling. I was speaking more about those who have never learned how to spell or just don't care. Also, I wasn't just talking about here in the forums, I was also speaking of RL.
I have two friends on Facebook who have teenage daughters that can't spell to save their lives. I was reading their posts when I started this thread.

My dear Sara, you should never feel inadequate. I think I can speak for this entire community when I say we can understand your typing just fine. And we don't care about how you spell things as long as you're posting and having these convos with us. We, as a community, love ya!

Spelling is not a sceince. Words and language evolv over time. English especelly is a mish mash of many languages each with its own twisted history. Go look at a hundrad year olde dictionary - you'll be surprised how many wroungue wurds there are.

Also, "I can't respect a man who cannot find more than one way to spell a word"

But n da end, it dont mater wut u sey r how u sey it. Communication be information exchange, and information be understand even if spell be bad and the grammar be wrong.
