The mau5 is more house. Not dub. I have a few friends that are in the scene makin thousands. I never really liked any electronic music until my friend paid for my trip to Miami to ultra music festival. After that, I appreciated it. Not my main thing, but I will Definatly get down to some hard music ;) I made the debate with her long ago, being a music snob and saying how electronic is ruining every inch of talent that was, but seeing how much time and effort they put into it and being recognized from the u.s. and other countries ISkrilix hurts my head, Daftpunk makes me feel like wearing a futeristic helmit and dance, and Deadmous5 makes me want cheese.
Will always give my respect. -
It makes me laugh to see people talk about dubstep.
When I started mixing it about 3 - 4 years ago, no one had really heard of it.
It's changed allot over the years. What's make me chuckle is when you see kids go on how amazing it is, yet when you ask them what they think of benga, skream, caspa, coki or rusko they look at you and ask, who the fuck is that. -

Take me back to the days when melodic death metal was in its prime.RIP Chuck From Death.Dubstep...
Its not that bad( in certain cases that is)
Im very open minded when it comes to music. Classical, techno, hard rock, whatever music is playing, i always try to give any genre a chance. When i first heared a dubstep song, i went like wtf??Imo dubstep is like what new beat/techno was back in the days. Peeps saying it wouldnt last long, while in the end it became one of the "big styles" if you know what i mean.
Ps, i want to go back to the early 90's. Those were the days when all this techno, acid, rave stuff were making teens go crazy in pubs. (unfortunatly, those were the days when xtc and other stuff started to make their way to the big public).
In the end i dont mind dubstep, but ill rather pass a dubstep night in a club, and go watch a good live show of Slayer or soulfly.
(obituary anyone? 😜) -
👆👆 wish i could man... Really...
So many good deathmetal bands are r.i.p.
Sad though. And no matter what kind of electronical music is reffered to, 2 mayor things people seem to forget is that you still do need talent, but the main thing is creativity (imo!)
Jean-michel jarre, vangelis to name but a few that were the pioneers of electrical music ( damn i still love that music although im a metal head!) -

Exactly. Kids always assume that what they listen to on the radio is automatically the best music out there and don't give a crap about any other artists they've never heard of. It's kinda hard to introduce new artists to some of my friends these days. They always assume that a certain artist sucks compared to their favorite artist. For example: Me introducing Mt Eden and Blackmill to them while all they do is listen to Skrillex (who is barely even dubstep). It makes me laugh to see people talk about dubstep.

I like people like deadmau5 ad daft punk, which btw are not dubstep just techno/house.

@Ghetto Monstazz well that's your opinion and I'm fine with it. But keep in mind not all dubstep is "dirty". Mt Eden and Blackmill are more peaceful and I like their melodies.

I do think dubstep has changed allot (like most music does).
It used to be all about that darker grime atmosphere in the music which made it unique.
These days it's more about who can create the best drop in the beat.
Don't get me wrong, there are some amazing drops, but the sounds now is more shredding rather than setting atmosphere. -

People seem to be confused about what Dubstep actually is. "That's not Dubstep"..."That's not Dubstep"...
Define it.
Don't name artists. Define the genre. What exactly excludes Daftpunk? Too refined? Not edgy enough? Beats that stay on the f'n time?
Seems like you got some hard-core aficionados, (that always exist for any pan-flute shit music), and then a huge base of "fans" that don't even know what it is.
"😭I don't understand... When I show people the music I like...😭 They always say it sucks... THAT'S NOT TRUE!!"

Daftpunk is talented. Most dubstep is not.

To be fair... Most techno/house/rave sucks. There are a few big names, though. I guess it comes down to a popularity contest. But I understand what you mean. Daftpunk does not suck AT ALL, IMHO, and there may be some talented people working in Dubstep, too. But so far, it seems that popularity automatically excludes artists from being called "Dubstep-approved". As soon as it doesn't suck, it's no longer Dubstep.Daftpunk is talented. Most dubstep is not.

Would you consider Levels by Avicii dubstep?
Daft Punk is good. So is Deadmau5. Not sure about Benny Benassi, but Crystal Method is good. Anyone heard of Digitalism? -

Y'all are missing it. Dubstep is old news. It's soooo Last Week!
New this week: Tripstep. It's one better than dubstep.
Defined as: step, step, trip. It's the music that rings in your ears for hours as you stumble home after a night of dubclubbing. It's the shit. True dat.
